I recently installed windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition. I did not have this problem with vista 64 bit.
I have a 32" Vizio lcd that i use the DVI to HDMI output cable.

When i power off my tv, my computer starts making the connect and disconnect sounds as if you were plugging in a flash drive and unplugging it repeatedly.

I went to class and came back to turn on my monitor and nothing showed, so i just took out my monitor cable and put it back in and vwala it worked. Went to eat so i turned off my tv, came back, powered my tv up, and no signal again, so i did the same thing with the cable, disconnected and reconnected. and it worked.

I have even gone into power settings so i know its nothing to do with that, does anyone know of a fix for this? it seems that its trying to (im going to use this term loosly) "ping" out the hdmi cable, looking for a monitor, this NEVER happend in vista.

Hi.

Are your graphics drivers up to date, before answering yes, check the version you have installed against the latest for you cards manufacturer.

model number of my video card? It's GX-260X-ADJF
Also I tried to just log off of my account and turn off the monitor, it seems to be working that way, it doesn't go nuts and try to keep connecting to my monitor, so it def. has to be windows 7. It never did this in vista lol.

model number of my video card?
The TV, I ask because there are a couple of firmware updates on the support page, so if yours is an applicable model it might be worth trying. Does it only happen when it's left for x amount of time, or can you switch it of and back on again and still have a signal?

Have you tried an older driver to see if that makes any difference?

So that TV is your only monitor? and it is plugged in using a HDMI port?

Probably nobody else has this problem because nobody uses a TV as their main monitor :/

Right click on the desktop and press "Screen Resolution", Does everything look normal? Try to change the resolution to see if it will work better...

Have you tried an older driver to see if that makes any difference?

Yes, i actually wiped the driver off at first, rebooted then reinstalled an older one, still didn't work, uninstalled, rebooted, and installed the newest ones that was released like 2 days ago.
