Hi,

When installing Windows 7 I get the option to select the network either as a Public Network, Work Network or Home Network. The PC is actually on a Home Network with a BT Home Hub v2.

However, would I get better security ie, less sharing of files and printers if I selected "Public Network". I do not wish any sharing at all to take place with this PC either from the Internet or other PC's on the Home Network.

Thx for any help

Public will give you the most security, "Home" the least. The thought is that in a Home environment you want the ability to share printers and files, and in the other two you want progressively more security.

From your description, "Public" would be the best option.
