windows 7 ultimate can't detect nvidia 9600 gt card

recently i installed windows 7 on my pc.every thing was grt but i can't install graphics card driver.here are the details:
graphic card: nvidia geforce 9600 gt/1gb/ddr3
motherboard: gigabyte ddr3
processor: intel core to duo 2.93 ghz
operating system:-windows 7

i have tried all the latest versions of drivers.all gives me the same result: "windows cannot detect any hardware that is compatible with the said driver.so setup will exit".

SVGA drivers are automatically installed...m in a great confusion..i was given drivers for XP while purchasing the 9600 gt. it works fine in XP.

Have you looked for win 7 drivers for your card? The xp ones wont work unless you install them in compatibility mode.

To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>XP

Assuming this is a desktop computer, have you checked the physical connection to the graphics card in the machine?
Please can you tell me what your previous OS was?

NVIDIA DRIVERS 196.21 WHQL

i have tried at least all the drivers those are said to be compatible with wn-64 bit.but the result is same. it always says that" The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware.SETUP WILL NOW EXIT.today i also tried 196.21_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql but the result is same.
and i think windows 7 hasn't recognised the card.In device manager there appears only SVGA card. but in Boot menu it shows 1024 mb nvidia 9600gt vga card.

yah i have checked.and in the boot menu it shows "NVIDIA 9600 GT 1024 card."

Have you checked the Device Manager to see if Windows installed the default drivers? If Windows installed it's own drivers it can interfere with nVidia's version of the graphics.

Also, I'm not aware of a 9600GT available in Notebooks but it would be good if you could clarify that this in fact a desktop machine as notebook's will not let you install drivers by regular means.

in device manager it shows "SVGA display adaptor."..its desktop.

Try checking for registery errors. I'm pretty certain it's got nothing to do with this but it can't hurt.

EDIT: This just came to me all of a sudden. Try installing Nvidia System tools (http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.03.html) and see if that helps, you never know; you might get lucky

i have tried with several driver checkers and robots but none of these detect my graphic card.
are there any specific requirements for being detected i w7-64 bit apart from xp.

are there any settings to be made in BIOS or BOot menu.

If you've used a modded inf and driver from laptopvideo2go and it still doesn't work, I've no idea.

Do you have another GPU you could swap in? See if it recognises that.

There must be something wrong on the hardware side. Windows 7 should have Microsoft's native drivers for that card. They should have installed during Win7 installation. You may need to reseat the card and check the pci-e power cable that goes from the PSU to the end of the card is plugged in.

Are you still using the SMPS SERIES PRO 380W PSU?
