i7 Lynnfield temp spikes

Just curious if its common for the 860's temps to spike suddenly under load, then fall off quickly when idle?
I was running a new WEI, and when it was under about 95% load, the temp jumped rapidly. (57c) Still within safe param's, but it seemed rather odd to me. (Then again, I AM slightly OC'd) So is this normal for the i7, or should I look at my Vtt/Bclk a little closer?

No. Speedstep is disabled during OC. In my case it would turbo boost. I've just never seen one shoot up that quickly I suppose.

My i7 860, with stock Intel heatsink & fan, runs quite hot under full load... about 40 C idle, 80 C when running Prime95 on all cores. Seems stable though.

You can run IntelBurnTest and keep RealTemp open.

Run IBT in maximum for 5 loops with 16 threads and just let it go but watch RealTemp so you can abort the test should the temps hit max.

A great test to check stability after OC.
