Hello !
I got a serious problem and i need your help .
I am trying to Install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my PC. I had XP for way too long and i want to install new Windows. I got Retail DVD and i started installation. Got it installing and then comes the first restart-after the Installing Updates.. being checked
. Now the computer restarts and starts up -loads the windows 7 and then returns to installation . I mean the Completing installation progress. After being there for some time, a black screen occurs. And then , restarts, then it loads up again to installation with an error that installation was messed up and needs to restart to continue install, but it says it every time over and over. Now im only getting that no signal after the Starting Windows screen.
Well, i have been looking for solution for 6 hours, and none so far . Some say, it is caused by graphic card or the video output. I got HD4870 and it has 2 DVI slots, i have only 1 monitor ,and that is connected with that VGA-DVI thing.
Microsoft recommends this: Computer screen goes black during the Windows 7 installation process
And i tried that , but didnt work. I added files to my USB stick. And it looks like this : http://neumann.pri.ee/help.JPG
Now i connected the USB, started computer(win7 DVD was already in) then i boot from cd/dvd, installer started, i started installing, (it took about 10 mins longer at the Expanding Files at 100% ) then again, computer restarts, installation loads up and continues but still, black screen and restart follows. And im stucked, i cant get forward.
I believe it is caused by my HD4870,but i have no other monitors and GPUs :(
Any1 had same problem ?
Processor: E8400 3.0 Ghz

Hi Arxman, welcome to the forums
If you followed the instructions in the Microsoft Support page correctly and it is still not working, it might not be the HD4870, since it would have loaded the latest drivers for it
How much memory are you using. That is another common source of problems. Best is to run the installation with only one stick, then put the other(s) back after it is finished.
Please fill in your system specs, it will be easier to help that way.
Also please take a look at this thread, the solution for the constant reboot might be your case

Well, still, no change. I tried with 1 RAM stick, but error eccurs. It must be the HD4870 problem . Maybe some1 could make me step by step guide , how to make that USB installer thing , that i provided above ?
I just dont know, when to use it and how to use it. Microsoft told, that is should help, but still, no help at all :(
I have done 2 install restarts. 1st restart and then the 2nd. and after that, black screen , but im sure, that the installation progress is running, but i cant see it :(
Maybe if i connect 2 monitors with that DVI-VGA connector, will i be able to see something?
Damn i really want win 7 :)

You can create a bootable USB drive by following these instructions: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html

Does the installation ever finish, or does it quit part way through?

Well, as i just said, i have made it to 2nd restart. The 1st restart, and the second, and after that, after the starting windows screen. comes black screen .
And i got only 1GB USB Stick(its actually a MP3 player, but i should work too)

Well, the installation continues, i can get to desktop ,but then, after the windows update installs some ATI driver , the computer restarts, and then never gets to desktop on Start Windows Normally. I can get to desktop with Safe Mode , but i dont know ,what to do :S
I wont let me install drivers on safe mode and wont let me to use windows update
I think i must change some display properties? Some VGA or DVI settings , so i wont get blank screen or getting stuck at Starting Windows in normal mode .
Any ideas?
Some says something about low-resolution and dont know what :S

but in dxdiag, it doesnt show none info at the display tab..si i guess , something is wrong with display driver, but i cant install it in safe mode

In Safe Mode, uninstall your card drivers. Reboot in Normal Mode, and see what happens.
