Windows 7 adoption and satisfaction have both been exceptionally high from the start, according to two new reports from Forrester Research. The first report notes that the early adopters which drive the initial success of most tech products are very satisfied with the key new features; consumers who adopted Windows 7 in forth quarter were generally very satisfied with their PCs. The second notes that Windows 7 has been very good at raising awareness, though Microsoft still faces the challenges of making sure it lives up to the lasting legacy of Windows XP while at the same time overcoming consumers' painful memory of Windows Vista. The reports are based on Forrester's Consumer Technographics data.

XP was better.

I disagree. I had a whole range of problems with XP prior to the release of the first service pack. Even afterwards I recall the odd blue screen. Windows 7 has yet to cause any BSODs and I've been running it on a few different PCs for about a year now. Windows 7 is far superior to XP IMO.

My experience with upgrading to XP was about exactly the same as 7. And it was all due to immature drivers and old software that wouldn;t run or install right moving from 9x to xp. Home rigs pretty much had to be 9x based to play games, jumping all that kind of stuff from 9x to the NT based OSes was a /rough/ cut-over.

Work machines that were upgraded from 2k to XP were a lot smoother though.

My memory of Vista is not painful at all. In fact I think it has many areas where I prefer Vista over Win7 (and I am not bashing Win7, it is a good system - for a certain audience). XP I never liked - too chaotic.

I must have been lucky, because I've had no problems whatsoever with any Windows OS. Vista Ultimate was a bit bloated, and resource hungry, but has pretty cool eye candy. Windows 7 on the other hand is the cats ass. Microsoft's best OS yet.

THe explorer in 7 is a bit messy, but nothing i can't handle though. Find it an inconvenience to have no file view options menu in the explorer bar, but somehow i have sufficied with out it.

XP and 7 both have disadvantages - i PREFER XP in terms of apperance - there was no fancy gadgets or fancy AEro themes (i have aero disabled on my system for pure that reason and only use the 7 Basic theme). I think with XP I had more trouble getting drivers to work because when it first released hardly anything was compatible, found taht the case with some programs in 7 but other than that - Windows 7 has been so much smoother to operate.

I used Vista for two years and for me it was so much more better then Xp. Vista is a good OS if you have a computer that can run it (2gb of ram will make vista run very smoothly). Most people who hate vista have never used it and just think so because the media is so anti Vista.
