Cant Open pages due to modem prob or somethin,

Okay i'm in trouble here
I've done something with my ip, I found it through the cmd prompt and just pasted in my browser and clicked enter, a page showing my modem and WLAN came up telling me i have to log in, the user name of my net is shown as admin tho it is not, and they don't accept the password either, if i try to open any other page from any browser it redirects me to the Modems page back, help me guys I'm in big trouble. For now i am able to open this forums by using HSS.

The password that you are being asked for is not your net password but the admin password for your router or modem, this can be found, (the default anyway), in the documentation for the device.

By entering your IP into your browser you went into the Router/Modem and opened the set-up page.

As you seem to be in some form of endless loop you may be served better by re-setting the device This is often as simple as switching the device off for a minute or two and rebooting. You may have to use a re-set button or procedure - again check your documentation

I'm going to guess you are using Internet Explorer....

This sounds like it's set your router's management IP to be your home page...
Open your browser...
Click on tools (in the upper right corner)
Click Internet Options
On the dialog that opens...
Select the General tab
In the top section click "use blank"
Now exit and restart your browser...

AND... don't be pasting no more IPs into your browser!

Reading the original post the poster states that the issue happens with any browser, that would suggest to me that the common factor, the router, may be the cause here

Well, yes, but lets be practical... a router can't do that. There is no way a router can FORCE it's way into a browser window... something is going out there and opening it... Most likely because he set his homepage to his router admin IP.

I would hope you'd agree it is reasonable to eliminate the most likely cause first....

That kinda seems to be the solution to my prob, but the no u gave me wont open at all,
And guys this is the prob with 3 computers in my house not mine alone, No browesr trouble. they ask me for admin password which i dont know where to get from...
Plz help me.

Can you let us know the make and model of router, it may be possible to provide the default password, but it may be required to reset if the settings are not at default , or this could be as has been said that the router has lost it's password from the ISP

also if you open a command prompt and type "IPconfig /all" without the quotes the number you need to type into your browser to access the router will be under the default gateway entry

Ok, now my router is simens gigaset se568. It does redirect me to a simens page. And as u said there is a option of set default factory settings, but it says if i do it all my passwords, information stored in the router will be removed, i want to try fixing this without asking some computer repairer to come and fix coz its gonna cost.

You're seeing the router's admin screen... ya?

Your initial message said you dropped an IP from IPCONFIG into your browser and that's what started this... Most likely it was the gateway address for your router and it ended up being your home page. That it has propogated to other machines in your house is something of a mystery... unless you did it on all your browsers.

Believe me, routers do not pop up their admin screens asking for passwords all by themselves... To see that screen you have to go to a specific port on a specific IP address (it's different for each make of router)... and that has to be done by the browser itself. A router can't just force itself into a browser screen...

I could be wrong (that is always a possibility) but in years and years of setting this stuff up I've never once seen a router do what you're talking about, on it's own, so I place it at a very low level of likelihood...

Have you virus scanned your systems since this started?

Did you even try the fix I suggested?

Yep i scanned viruses, i did registry scans and if u say it is not a router problem then what is it, Btw i am using Firefox and don't use any other At the moment. Google is my homepage and the routers pages is not only the home page it is the only page i can access with no Privacy software. And yes i entered my Gateway address in the browser.

1.can you access net at this moment?
2.give try to what the boss said

that would get you to router settings by admin/admin or admin/password
3.i would create a dialup bb connection and try connecting to see whether some internal setting got changed...highly unlikely as commontater said but not impossible.
4.even if you do hard reset you can put your username/password again i.e if you remember them
also if default password is changed for router settings and is forgotten then hard reaset is the only option.

Siemens router admin passwords are normally blank so if it is not accepting this then there has been a password added at some time - this may have been your ISP if they provided the router as part of a package. If this is the case then you really need to contact the ISP rather than reset as this could remove other essential information.

If you have a two box set-up with a dsl modem and a router you could try connecting one on the PC's to the modem, bypassing the router altogether - this could then prove or disprove the idea that the router is the issue.

OMG i'm saved, I did what the boss said though that was the number i typed first time, and this time i logged in by the pass as admin like u said and it worked, now i can browse the net normally after some admin changes, I thank all of you though, for helping me. I might return with some problem sooner or later. But thanks again i'm saved. Btw how to i make a thread solved?

Your router is in fact the problem I'm afraid. The link below shows a set up procedure for your residential wireless modem. Looks to me like the assumptions about this not being a router problem weren't exactly correct.

Following the set up procedure in the link below is about the only chance you have to get it working. By the way, the default password for your modem is most likely "admin".

Your router is in fact the problem I'm afraid. The link below shows a set up procedure for your residential wireless modem. Looks to me like the assumptions about this not being a router problem weren't exactly correct.

So it would seem.... Oh well...

1) I learned something new today.... which is a good thing.
2) I now have the model number of a router to tell my people to avoid... also a good thing.
