Sony vs. Samsung vs. HP in laptops? Please help

I'm about to buy a laptop but I don't know what to choose. I've been searching on the Internet about the comparison between Sony vs. HP. Most of the people recommend HP.
My friend owns a HP laptop and in my opinion, I think it runs pretty lound. The fan is under the laptop, not on the side like Sony; therefore, my laps also get so hot! Anyway its performance is great. I just don't like the noise.
I've used both Sony and Samsung lately. They run super quiet and good.
A BestBuy's salesperson told me that although Samsung laptops are very new but they're highly rated.
My friend said I should buy a Sony VAIO because it's awesome and lasts long.

So which one of these 3 do you think works better and lasts longer?
I don't care about Blu-ray, size, weight.
Also my brother will be playing 1 only online game, Rumble Fighter, on the laptop. The size of the game is about 550MB so will it cause problems??

I think I might go for either Sony or Samsung.

The Sony is definitely the best - but expensive. HPs are OK but sometimes run a little hot. Find one where the vents are towards the side, not the bottom. Samsung I would not buy. I have seen too many negative user comments (but never had one myself). I have 1 HP and 2 Gateways. I happen to like the Gateways.
Another excellent alternative is Toshiba. They have real nice laptops and the users rave about them. Many are I5 and some are I7 with good graphics (for about $950).
If you want to go 17", there is a new HP with 2 HDD bays (one is empty). That can be handy if you want to install a small SSD for the OS only. This one is around $750.

I'd echo whs and go for a Toshiba. For my model (Satellite A500), I've seen nothing but good reviews, and I've never had troubles with it running hot or poor battery life/performance. I'm very happy with it; I'd recommend it to anyone. One recommendation, however: if you do buy a Toshiba, don't get one with an AMD processor. Something's wrong with those motherboards that can end up with overheating.

Yeah, right. Get an I5. That's a nice middle of the road.

I'm not sure what your price range is but I just bought an Asus from Tiger Direct and love it.

The HP laptop looks either good by the Sata Drive 7200rpm & Hdmi plug, 12 cells battery, Altec Lansing speakers... but it is a sub-notebook 14' screen......vs Sony, for the same price.

I would prefer Hp for those little added features because it could makes some less investements in near future, if you plan to connect to a Hd-Tv or Lcd Screen.

Don't grab an HP laptop. I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. I've had personal experience with them that was horrible. They send back your laptop saying nothing's wrong with it until your warranty runs out and you're screwed. Let me show you basically what happened to mine (different model):
