I recently got the AMD Phenom II 965 and was not to impressed with its temp results. I idle at 40c and hit 64c on full load using stock cooling when it is only suppose to go to 62c safly. I just wanted to know what everyone elses temps are like and what cooling you use as i am tempted to return this CPU and go back to an intel CPU.

If you return the CPU, and go back to intel, you'll also have to change motherboards...
(Unless "CPU" means "Computer")

Your temps are not the best I've seen but not entirely out of line...
Are you using the stock thermal compound that came on the Heat Sink?
If so you might gain some by using either Thermstrate or Arctic Silver instead.

Hey im using aksa thermal compound as i tryed artic silver 5 and got worse results with that i never used stock compound in any of my builds as there never to good at keeping cool.
Also i know i would need to change MOBO for intel as i done that in the first place to get AMD AM2+ socket so have got a spare SKT 775 intel in another case wating for me to rebuild just that always seems to get better temps.
if i was to get an after market cooler for this 1 now i assume it will help keep it cooler as i am a big gamer and play games for a few hrs a time and dont like it being on 64c that long.

I asked about this in your last thread about this, how about a couple of pictures of the inside of the case. Would help to see what you have for airflow.

If you are running that system under full load for extended periods, quite frankly I'd suggest you look into water cooling... Yes it's a complex setup but it's about the only way to keep things really cool...

Certainly the stock cooler is not up to heavy gaming or other tasks that cause sustained high CPU usage...

Um, water cooling does not have to be complicated.

If you have a 120mm fan hole check out the following product.

ECO A.L.C.

I have it in my system with a 965.

It idles @ 30C
Full load is ~37C
This is with a system temp of 27C

I agree with what ur saying but i was going to get this:Akasa AK-968 Socket 775 1156 1366 AM2 AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler - Ebuyer or this: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler - Ebuyer cooler as they are a reasonable price and im not to keen on water cooling atm as they cost nearly as much as the CPU lol and my pc is mainly used for gaming for long periodes of time and them coolers look like they may be able to handle that.

$75

That includes the 120mm fan the system uses to cool the radiator. (Its not an el-cheapo fan either)

I recently got the AMD Phenom II 965 and was not to impressed with its temp results. I idle at 40c and hit 64c on full load using stock cooling when it is only suppose to go to 62c safly. I just wanted to know what everyone elses temps are like and what cooling you use as i am tempted to return this CPU and go back to an intel CPU.

is cool and quiet turned on?

in general the wire management is ok, but you can do some better hiding for those wires, especially the 2 sata cables (1st thing i saw)

As kurahk7 said it isn't too bad with the wires, but every little bit helps. Stuffing the unused or any excess inot an unused drive bay helps.

Would also help to replace the two missing slot covers. I would also look at replacing that 80 mm fan in the back with a 92 mm (looks like that is what it will take) with the highest airflow (CFM) and lowest noise (db) you can find. Also from your listed specs,

Cooling AMD Stock Heatsink, 120mm Blue Front fan, 2x80mm exhaust fan

where is the second 80 mm? One reason for mentioning replacing the 80 mm with a bigger fan is that with a 120 mm in the front and an 80 mm in the back, you have more air going in than going out, allowing the air to heat up more before it is expelled.

One more thing, the power supply. Is there a fan on the top of it (as it is installed) at the top of the case, or only one at each end of it? If there is one at the top, turn the power supply the other way around so that fan is facing down, will help with drawing extra heat out.

the 2nd 80mm fan is a side exsuast 1 and the psu only has a fan at the back i'll be covering the to expansion bays soon and will try to hide the cables better and i have an artic cooler pro rev 2 coming in the morning.

Turn that 80 on the side to intake. It doesn't help much when it is pulling air from the front before it even has a chance to pass the CPU and video card. General rule for case fans is; front and sides, in; back and top, out.
