In this case, I think it's a worthy thing to make fun of. it's not really a tablet computer whatsoever...it's just a touch screen web appliance. They seem way overpriced compared to netbooks which offer way more functionality for far fewer $$'s.

Yes, absolutely right; why pay a premium for about half a computer? Only Apple-philes can answer this question.

honestly, most Apple users I know are some of the most arrogant people on the planet. Don't get me wrong, not all, but most are because they have this sense of elitism that they own a Mac and thus are more progressive/cool. It's like the 2000's version of being anti-establishment, most of which is just for the sake of doing it.

Y'know, it's funny that you mention arrogance, since my bro-in-law (normally the most down-to-earth person you'd ever meet) was really pushing to get me to go Apple when I was researching my current rig (I know we are talking more about the wireless devices, but I think the argument goes across the board).

Now, I am not anti-Apple, as there is a time and place for everything (I started off on an Apple IIe, IIc, Mac Plus, and Mac SE/30 before getting my first PC... a 486), but seriously? I first told him that I am far too invested in PC software to even entertain the idea. He told me I could load Windows on it. So, just for kicks, I went to the Apple site and spec'd out a build equivalent to what I was considering. I about died laughing. It was going to cost me over twice as much just to have the "honor" of saying "I'm a Mac". And then I wouldn't be able to go inside and get my hands dirty? Forget it.

If I was just starting to get into computers now and had an extreme fear of technology, maybe... maybe. If I was in graphic design then I might consider it a bit more. The only real reason to go Apple at this point is: a) money to burn, b) support that you will never get from company like Dell, Gateway, HP, et al., if you happen to need the support (any problem I have I address with the component mfr). I say the latter since my bro-in-law had an issue with the sound on his MacBook after a few months of ownership, and when he took it back to the Apple Store they couldn't figure out how to fix it, so they replaced it with the current version (larger hard drive, more mem, newer OS) at no charge. Well, no charge outside of the warranty which he bought at the time of purchase.

Then again, if I want a new PC laptop every few months, I would just buy at Costco.

Just to add a little to Vulcan's post; it doesn't even matter if you choose AMD or Intel processors, PC hardware is always cheaper than a comparable Mac build.

The Apple Ipad is very large Iphone, that doesn't make phone calls and doesn't fit in your pocket.

Well, my wife has a MacBook Pro. She is into graphic design and photography so it is useful. I have never liked macs that much and dont like the attitude of locking things down or making the OS only run on specific hardware so you need to buy from Apple. (The OS is cheap its the hardware markup that hurts)

In a comment to the system though. It is very stable. It is very fast. It loads in 15 seconds. It has a tremendous battery life like 10 hours. i was impressed. I am still learning it to navigate and troubleshoot whenever she has an issue. I told her when she got it that I wouldn't be able to troubleshoot or support it... but I am learning fast and have resolved plenty of issues for her.

but the iPad on the other hand :roflmao:
