I'm a recent diesel convert, and I absolutely love it. I was just curious as to who else was tooling around in one?

My particular diesel is a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, what's yours?

I sometimes drive my Mum's car, which is diesel, when I'm staying at her house when I'm back from University. She has a 2.0 diesel Vauxhall Zafira, and before that she had a 1.6 petrol Zafira, and I always drive a petrol, and I have to say I prefer petrol as the acceleration in the diesel/driving in lower gears feels slightly more sluggish. Unless it's just that car.

Beats a Freightshaker...LOL [unless it was a cab-over. But I think that model is a conventional isn't it?]. I've been a Diesel Technician for 25 years now. Does that count?

Allow me to do an impression of Kilgore in the movie Apocalypse Now "God I love the smell of diesel in the morning!!!"

Okay, so it was napalm, not diesel, but you get my drift....LOL

I hear that. I've owned a few dirt bikes over the years. Honda CR-250, Honda XR200-R, and a Yamaha YZ-490. Never owned a street bike though. I'm too worried about all the idiots out there who act like you have a car wrapped around you when your on a bike. I'll take my chances gettin' crazy in the dirt. At least that way it's my own fault.

I used to do dirt riding; that where and how I learned to ride. I'm a little old for that now, at least for serious dirt riding. I do of LOT of on the road riding and your are right. It is dangerous out there.

Naaaahhhh. I'll be 42 next month, and I still play in the dirt. I need to find something smaller that this YZ-490 though. I weigh about a buck thirty and change, and you know how it is with a large 2-stroke bike. When you hit the power band in third gear, even at half throttle, you best be sitting on the gas tank or it's end over time. That usually ends very badly......LOL

Been there and done that! :D I, too, love the two strokes. At 42 you are a mere child; I will be 66 in three months. I don't recover quite as quickly as I did 40 years ago!

I would NEVER buy a four wheeler. I like grabbing lots of air jumping, and I don't feel safe doing that on a four wheeler. Besides, you can't go sideways in the air [tabletop] like you can with a two wheeler. Two wheelers are just lots more fun. Plus, considering how much four wheelers cost, you can get two dirt bikes for the same price, or even cheaper. Man, I wish I never would have traded my Honda CR-250 for this Yamaha YZ-490. It's just too much bike. Plus, I'm only 5'6 so I have to run along side the bike in first gear, then hop up on the seat....LOL - There's no way to damper the mono-shock to get it to sit low enough for my feet to reach the ground when I'm on it. The CR-250 needed a wrist pin though, and I didn't feel like tearing the engine down. In hindsight, I wish I would have just done that.

We had a four wheel Bush Hog utilty vechicle where I used to work. It would get through a lot of bad places where my 4X4 Silverardo would not make it. It was great for carrying drip torches and the fuel for them to the remote locations where we were control burnning. But for personal use, give me two wheels.
