One time when I was in Texas visiting my girlfriends family, the next door neighbor let me ride his 1300cc Harley. There was a big party, and there was around a hundred people outside. When I came back with the bike, and pulled up in the drive, almost everyone was laughing hysterically. With as small as I am, they said it was the funniest shit they ever saw seeing me toolin' down the road on that station wagon with two wheels.

I've never really had a problem with flat footing a street bike though. It's the mono-shock 2-stroke dirt bikes I gotta' run along side of, and swing up on. They sit too high for me. But hey, you gotta' love a suspension that sucks up street curbs like they aren't even there.

MMD - try a Goldwing, those things are 2-wheeled cars (complete with AC).

If I were gonna go the bike route again, I'd look for a Ural (but I bet they're way expensive and too tall as well). I also like the little thumpers that Buell makesl. The idea of a single cylinder appeals to me.

That Harley 1300cc was every bit as big as a GoldWing, if not bigger. If I was gonna' invest in a street bike, I wouldn't mind a Yamaha V-Max.

The Urals are OK for local riding; but I wouldn't want to put them on sustained freeway runs. Some of the cruisers may work for you. My daughter is about your height and she handles her Triumph Speedmaster with no problems.

Have you considered a Ural with a side car? You don't have to worry about putting your feet down. My wife has a Bonneville with a sidecar.

Back to diesels - I have a family of four (infant and a giant-sized 7-yr old), the Jetta just isn't big enough for sustained highway travel (but the mileage is fantastic). We need a bigger vehicle, but getting a larger diesel in the US seems to be impossible. I sure hope Ford's diesel plans work out (they're making their own in-house now). If they have success with the new truck engine, then maybe they'll follow-up with something for passenger cars.

Kenworth Vac truck, 550 hp, Caterpillar engine.

Hella fun mashing through the mud and muskeg with tire chains on, crawling up hills, then sometimes.......sliding back down them. lol.
