I guess an updated driver is required, but nowehere on the ATI website can I download drivers, it's either catalyst or nothing.

That is exactly what I'm doing. The BSOD occurs at point 10 of the tutorial. The problem with that link is, that it refers back to the ATI site, and I cannot find drivers only, they all seem to be packaged. Win 7 doesn't seem to like them, when i point to any of those files.

I hate ATI:p

Did you "read" my post...

Please go to this page, scroll down and look for "Package Includes" "Driver Only" - Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

You can get only the drivers, you just need to look for them. I don't understand how you can't find them.

Good luck.

i did and I know the file you mean. That file extracts to over 100 files in several folders. Win 7 setup asks for an .inf file, and there are two of those in the Drivers folder. However when I select the appropriate card and then got to add drivers, setup complains that there are no drivers, regardless of which of the folders I point to....

One would have thought that the drivers would be in the folder named Drivers, but not so according to setup

I also tried this : Computer screen goes black during the Windows 7 installation process that stops the BSOD but when setup restarts it comes up with 'setup did not shut down properly and cannot restart'

I am sure there is a way to get win7 installed on that PC , but how?
