I'm trying to use Win7 more than XP cause I love it so much more. But, when it hits the shelves, are all copies discontinued? What will happen to my files, and will I have a chance to move back to XP?

Windows 7 betas have a set deactivation date like build 7077 expires on 02/03/10 and either wont be useable or will be restricted after that date.

RC1 and later builds of that branch may well have expiry dates that are further ahead. I suspect though that RC1 will give us a hint at when windows 7 might actually be released. So there shouldnt be any need to go back to a previous version of windows.

Just install RTM version when it comes out the same way you have been doing with the leaks.

You will need to copy files to a USB flash drive or something to that effect. Lots of articles online about this right now as lots of users are wondering the same things. I try to keep all important work on my old xp but I spend most of my time on seven so it is gonna be hard to wipe this install and put another on and then another when seven goes to retail but you gotta do what you gotta do. enjoy the now.

Very true, plus it's always handy to have backups of all your personal files anyway.

So if I get rid of my XP partition and just run XP in VMWare Workstation, so when they deactivate my Win7 I can still reach the files from my XP VMWare installation to move onto my new XP, right?
