Any Cons With Deleting Original Admin Account?

For some reason, when I first turned on my laptop upon purchasing it...and after doing a factory restore (which is like if I first opened it) I noticed that I can run the application M.U.G.E.N, which is a 2D fighting game application. However, after downloading some programs like:

Yahoo Messenger, AOL Explorer, DivX, Xvid, Limewire, Frostwire, Opera browser, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Google Sketchup, iTunes, Quicktime, Video LAN, PSP Video 9, utorrent, Leawo Free FLV Converter and Free Video Accelerator, and a few more...

I can still run MUGEN, except...some stage mp3's do not play, all of a sudden.

However, when I create a new user account, and play FROM THAT user account...Mugen seems to run smoothly.

All of the above has been tested out TWICE (when I first used the laptop, and after doing a factory restore).

So...it is a combination of using the default user account, and having downloaded the programs above. However, not having downloaded these programs and/or playing from a different account seems to bypass the problem.

I was just wondering if there is ANYTHING about a default admin account that makes it special from any other admin account that you or I can create. I have another question following this about directories but this is my main concern now. Is there anything (even small things) special about the first admin account or is it like any other admin account? Because I was considering deleting it and just using another admin account...

There is a 'hidden' Administrator account ... the default Admin isn't quite the same. Take a look through the Tutorials. ;)

Sorry, I meant the original account you make once you purchase your laptop, which would make that the first admin account on the computer.

Hello WF,

Only as long as you had another administrator account (created or built-in Administrator) to use instead, then you can.

Well nvm. Apparently it had to do with some settings of the programs I downloaded...I opened up msconfig and disabled most of them on startup. MUGEN worked fine then.

If you ever do decide to delete the account, be sure to make sure another administrator account is enabled, otherwise you may find a situation where you don't have access.

I would definitely take his advice for this, because that happened to me once. Changed only user to a Standard user using the built-in admin account. AND for some reason the built-in admin suddenly had a password when I logged it off. Trust me, I didn't put it. It was a VERY fresh install that just completed 5 minutes earlier. No net yet.

Wierd, and it took me a while to get around it. (Had a defective DVD Drive so I was very, very hesitant to do a fresh install because I needed to insert/eject the dvd 50 times while rebooting on each try in order for it to boot). Had to mess with the registry via repair OS stored in System Reserve and at the same time use that PE environment someone created to reset passwords. :P
