Office 2010 Reaches RTM!

I did know that. My issue is that I just CANNOT find a copy of the 64bit beta version. I can only get a 32bit, which doesnt work.

~Lordbob
I thought you were a TechNet subscriber? I'll see if I can hunt you up a 64 bit download. Have you tried mydigitallife.com yet?

I had install problems, despite use of RevoUninstaller and Registry editing. Finally got disgusted when still a couple of office keys told me I didn't have permission to remove. Decided to take the chicken way out since my system was overdue for such and I used the DiskPart Clean command, repartitioned, etc and then installed Win 7 Ultimate and then Office 2010 Pro. Have just finished installing all other programs with 4 four full system image backups in-route. (so that could recover system back to various points in the restoration process). I think my problems originated from installing the 2010 beta on top of 2007 office instead of first doing a full removal of 2007 when installing the 2010 beta but I'll never know now. Oh yes, I did, during my frustrations, reinstall 2007 and then removed. Still the Office 2010 RTM wanted to insist that I had a previous version of 2010 installed. Oh well, system is up and running although are still a few loose ends here and there. Reinstalled WinDbg but haven't set the symbol pointer yet to fetch the newest symbols. Wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft ever learned how to install a RTM and remove all of the traces of previous versions?

I don't care what the program is. If I can't completely uninstall it, I do a clean install of the OS. There's nothing I hate more than having obsolete software on my machine. It would keep me up nights....for real!

In fact, I just did a clean install of Windows 7 when the RTM of Office was released. I didn't want ANY traces of the beta version on my rig.

Hey guys,
Unfortunately, 24c's Download was NOT the beta (don't worry), so if anyone has a copy of the beta (it says BETA in the name), I would much appreciate it.

However, I am seriously considering reinstalling my OS today, so it may not matter.

When I was using the Beta, it got to the point where I like it better than Office 2003, and WAAAAAY better than 2007.

That is a good question.

I know on TechNet they are offering just the ProfessionalPlus x32 and x64.
I do not know what they will sell in stores.

Guess I just answered myself. From 64-bit editions of Office 2010:

This section describes the Setup sequence for a 64-bit Office client installation.
The Office 2010 installation DVD contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office 2010 with two architecture-specific folders: one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit, as noted previously. Each of the architecture folders contains a Setup.exe file for the specific platform. There is also a Setup.exe file at the root folder. This is referred to as the platform chooser. The following figure shows the folder structure.
Ee681792.71afb0b7-41b1-4845-a6de-20ff7f71c03e(en-us,office.14).jpg

I am still fetching install discs from Technet (actually they are already finished but I'm still at work and can't RDP home from here). Can anyone check this before I do by myself?

The Office 2010 files I got from TechNet are .exe files, not dvd, or iso. 1 is 32 bit, the other 64 bit.

That image refers to an "installation DVD" and I don't think that's what is currently on TechNet.

I reserve the right to be wrong.

I'm also downloading individual files for 32 and 64-bit -- still unsure if they were .ISO or .EXE, but coming from the same source, should be .EXE then. However as this picture came from Technet documentation, looks like the retail discs may be dual systems after all -- which is a good move IMHO.

Is anyone else who has a TechNet subscription having problems validating Office 2010? Here's a screenshot of the page I view after attempting to validate...

adyypd.jpg

Could this be because TechNet's Office has a volume license? I've downloaded and installed the Active X control successfully, but no dice on validation. It doesn't say it's NOT valid, but it doesn't say it is either.
