looking for a way to unhide the taskbar with only the windows key. often while working on a program the taskbar pops up when my mouse gets too close to the edge. I like it hidden. Ive tired extendedUIhovertime and hovertime mouse registry changes but then dont work. I tried thrid party apps but they took up cpu and were termpermental. i dont like docking programs so please dont suggest those.

The goal here is to un-hide the taskbar with just the windows key and not mouseover

my ideas is

Im using a laptop so it doesnt have monitor dispaly position functions
a have a NVIDIA video card
the ideas was to move my display one pixel down that way the mouse could not reach it

anyone know a app that can do this or have any other ideas?

I might be able to make one, if that's alright. Most of the apps I make are pretty small... you might be able to use them. But you'd have to settle for something other than just the Win key, as it would get disabled for opening the start menu and instead for the taskbar. Would you be okay with Win key + Spacebar?

can you make the windows key open the startmenu and taskbar? otherwise windows key + space sounds fine. if you can do that it would be awesome

Well, seeing as the language takes the windows keys as LWin and RWin (Left and Right) would you be alright if I used RWin to do the taskbar? (Not entirely sure what relation to RWin it has, but I'll find out when I try, so it may not work)

If you already have a way to inject code in the Explorer process, maybe there is an easy solution. Simply subclass the taskbar and filter out any mouse messages if the taskbar is minimized. Or instead subclassing, install a message hook for the UI thread.

Not using C, can't do that. :p

Here's the program. The size is 223 kilobytes, takes up about 2000 kilobytes to run, so not much. :p
It does not hide the start button, but that shouldn't be a problem.

If you decide to use this without autohide, it will show the desktop below the area where the taskbar was. If you do use autohide, you'll get the full screen, but you won't see the taskbar if you mouse down there until you hit the hotkey.
Hope that's not a problem.

Used AutoHotKey.
Move the app (or make a shortcut and move that) to the Startup folder. Open the Start menu, go to All Programs, go down to Startup, and move it there.

Yea, I was about to say that. There's a shortcut in there somewhere (too many, I think, I made it poorly... :() that takes it. You might be able to use this app if you run ST first and then this.

I'll remove the help momentarily.

Trying to find the 'hide taskbar' AHK mentioned in this thread.

I realise I'm a few years late, but if anyone has any idea where I could find the autohotkey script mentioned in this thread, or knows of another way to make the taskbar only appear when the windows button is pressed, I'd be very appreciative.

thanks...
