slow logon and logoff and lock speeds

high i am currently on my laptop which has build 7077 32bit installed on it and whenever i logon, off, or lock it, it takes like 1 min or 2 just to do that each time. in older builds it was alot faster if not almost instant. why is it doing this. amd dual core sempron processor, 2gb of ram, nvidia geforce go 6150. idk what else to tell you its jsut alot slower when it comes to loging out and in along with locking it

this was a clean install, and idk why its this slow all of the other builds were like lightning quick, i no the file i got has no malware or anything it it. besides loging off and on it is also just slower all around. its onyl using like 35 percent of my ram and a little bit of cpu like its almost none cpu most of the time but sometimes it jumps to 10 or something, i only have the defualt services running it says so idk anyone else have slower performance in 7077 hopefully rc will be faster in a few days

You could turn off some startup applications.

ill try that but i already tuned off a few of thre apps, also is it normal to have a coprocessor under the unknown hardware section of device manager i cannot find a fix for it as i cannot find any drivers for it

I can't remember how to get to my list, but I would assume it is since there are no drivers for it and it's a component.

to log off and shut down faster, go to start>run>regedit and browse thru, Hkey local machine>system>current control set>control and on the right hand side, change waittokill value to 120 from 12000. to increase bootup time, open msconfig, disable all startup items and unwanted services and then click under the BOOT tab, click on Advance Settings and change the no. of processors to highest.
Also, delete the contents of temp, %temp% and prefetch.
These should reduce the bootup time to a great extent.

I just like to be on the safe side, since I've messed up plenty of computers by editing the registry, partitioning, just careless stuff like that. Besides, it doesn't hurt do make one every once in a while.

You could also use Event Viewer to check you boot /shut down for any apps or services that are consistently slowing things up.

Type Event in the start menu and:

Event viewer > Applications and Service Logs > Microsoft > Windows >Diagnostics-Performance

Just did it. Works great. But when your disabling startup things, be sure to check "Microsoft Windows Operating System."

Its either the sidebar or Welcome Center. So even if you uncheck it, its no problem.
