Good Registry Tools? Is it possible?

Hello! I'm under the influence of all these topics from software forums about the Windows Registry tools and how exactly good are they.Do they really work or it is just a noise?

I've heard many times about Registry Booster, Registry Mechanic and Mil Shield for example, but never use such programs, that is why I ask such question.Thanks guys

Many users here as well as myself don't recommend using registry cleaners. The risk far outweighs the gains.

There are thousands upon thousands of registry entries, removing a few here and there probably make little to no difference.

The best definitely will boost your computers-I have Registry mechanic and Mil shield/it is also a privacy program/ and they work fine.But there are many junk programs out there-dw96 is right in this case : "The only thing that registry modifier programs can do is cause problems."

I don't use them...don't see the need. My experience with ccleaner is about 50%. 50% of the time it screws up the machine more, 50% of the time it runs successfully but makes no difference whatsoever.

Win 7 does not need a registry cleaner. Forget all the "wisdom" you learned about XP. Win 7 is not XP and does not manage the registry the same as XP.

Win 7 is much more efficient at managing the registry. If you are very knowledgable of the registry, you can use Ccleaner to delete keys left over when uninstalling programs. However, these few keys will not make 1 millisecond's difference in performance. If you run Ccleaner or any other registry cleaner and do not know precisely what you are doing, you will have problems down the road. There are no gains to be had from using a registry cleaner and the risk is great.

If you consider yourself inexperienced better take a lot of caution with registry cleaners. I do not agree with some of the others that their cons outweigh their pros. Registry cleaners do make your computer slightly faster but they can cause problems with your computer and programs as well, they are prbably meant for more experienced users. Better back up your registry using a program called Erunt or create a system restore point first. CCleaner is the safest but not the best in my view but even with that, people have reported problems. Tuneup Utilities is perhaps the most dangerous I have seen.

TuneUp is not a program that only edits and deletes registry entries. I know that the registry stuff is a very weak point in TuneUp, but all of it's other features are great and they don't alter the registry.

2.The only thing that registry tools can do is screw up your Windows.
3.Even though registry tools DO speed up your computer, they are VERY VERY VERY unsafe and troublesome. If you're looking to speed up your PC the registry tools are THE WORST solution to your problem (they're not even a solution).

Yes,it is.
I know both Mil shield and Ccleaner. Ccleaner is good but it hasn't these Registry features that Mil shield has-a custom window with regular expressions and which part of key or value to be deleted.

Please show me a link to a bonifide, credible study that demonstrates a registry cleaner speeds up Win 7. This is a myth left over from Win 98 days. It definitely is not true for Win 7.

If you want to speed up your PC:

1.Use CCleaner to clean Temp files 2-3 times a week.
(also change program start up to only whats needed. Disable start up of un-needed stuff, like Yahoo or Windows msgr etc, no need it starting w/windows)
2.Get a good disk defragmenter & run weekly.
3.Leave the registry alone.
4.Leave Win7 alone. Dont try to "tweak it"
5. If budget allows, invest in a SSD for the OS. HD is by far the largest bottlneck and will improve performance significantly.

You can also open elevated cmd promp and use:
cleanmgr sageset:50 (this is an advanced disk clean up setup)
cleanmgr sagerun:50 to run w/desired settings

don't screw the reg if reg dont screw you. CC cleaner so far the stable reg cleaner and it's free.
still i rarely use cc cleaner .only after uninstall some programs

Registry cleaners are tremendous assets. In the old days, you had to wait about 2-3 years for your system to slow down enough, or get screwed up enough, to to a reinstall. Now, you can use any of the registry cleaners and cut that waiting period down dramatically. What a concept - you can buy a program (or use a free one) to screw up your system automatically, instead of having to do it yourself.
