i want to access other users folder n files occassionally from standard user account, for which i dont to change the access permisions for those files n folders for fears of spread of virus.

i have tried to "run as administrator" explorer, word and excel, which dont prompt for administrator password, but dont let me access other users folder or files.............

i have set the UAC to none

You cant access other users folders from a std user account I believe. You certainly can as admin. Why dont you want to run as admin again?

First, congrats on being so careful about virus, etc; this can be a cruel world. That being said, there is no need for your extra layer of caution. I understand what you want to do, but there are so many security features built into 7, it is not necessary.

In lieu, of your precautions, which are causing you problems, may I suggest a program, that will inform you every time a change is made; authorized or not. Win Patrol, I use it and it will notify of every change and give you time to refuse the change.

Win Patrol.

I use it and it is great. It will give you that extra feeling of security that you seem to want. Incidentally, I want it too.

kf10 standard users don't have permissions to access files of the other users.
You must have a file manager running as administrator to do so. I recommend you to install a 3rd party file manager (Total Commander) and run it as administrator. You can even configure a shortcut to always promp for admin password.
I'm not sure but I believe you will have to turn UAC on if you want to be able to launch programs as administrator without leaving your current acount.
