Background. Purchased a Dell XPS 410 with Vista a couple/few years ago. Ordered with built in TV tuner card. I did a Windows 7 Upgrade on this pc. I have not used the TV Tuner ever as I had no RG6 wire going to area of computer. I do now. All connections seem correct. I do receive a TV signal in other areas.


I don't know how to get the TV to work on this pc. Do I use Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player? Or something else?

And does anyone know if I need new drivers with Windows 7 for this TV Tuner Card? Or do I have to purchase a newer version of the card or any newer card?

I appear to be somewhat technology challenged.

Which one above is my TV Tuner Card?
And does that card work with Windows 7?
And if I need a new card, PCI or PCI Express or something else entirely.

Hii and welcome

Nvidia is your graphics card for display, sigma your sound device. The tuner may not have a driver installed and so may not show up yet.

Can you go into device manager (type device manager in search) Look for the display tab. There should be the nvidia and one other listed. If there is not is there any "unknown" devices with yellow on top?

If you had a working vista driver it should work in win 7 if you install it in compatibility mode.

Now If you have your service tag you can go to dell and find out what the tuner is and even get a driver for it. download it and install it

Neither. The first is your video card and the second is a keyboard driver.

Your Dell computer should have a 6 digit "Service Tag" number on it somewhere. Go to the Dell website and enter that "Service Tag" number where indicated and it will bring up your build. Go to detailed specifications and it should list the tuner card there.

While you are there, go to the Support section, Downloads, and see if they have a driver for the tuner card for W7. If none for W7, get the one for Vista. You need to know if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit W7 on your machine.

The tuner will not work without a driver installed. Once installed, the tuner will be functioning, but you will need an program installed that can use it. Windows Media Center could be that program.

In the program you must set up the tuner card. (I use SageTV, so I don't know how to set up Media Center). But there should be a settings tab and in the settings there should be a section to set up the tuner card(s). I'd be very surprised if there was not a Wizard to walk you through this part.

The setup procedures for your onboard TV Tuner are at Documentation
It was originally designed for XP and the last update was late in 2008, not sure if that tuner is on the Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility list.

I had some difficulty copy and pasting from Dell website. Then the list came out compressed - so I had to edit list format - that's why there is a double posting.

I found the Dell website a tad difficult to navigate.

Is my TV Tuner card listed above?

I found the Dell Drivers and Utilities blue CD disk that came with computer.

I inserted as outlined.

It states (I think) that I have a:
Lumante Angel II TVT3 Internal Dual Analog NTSC TV Tuner Rev: A01

After inserting the Dell CD disk and clicking on the above on the list on screen, I received a dialog box that states:

Resource CD Version A00N

Can not open file:

F:\ZipFiles\R117570.exe

Any ideas? Did I do this incorrectly? Do I need a new TV Tuner?

Another issue has arisen after doing above.

Dialog box comes up and states that I may not have a legitimate copy of Windows 7.

I do. It's an upgrade disk.

Never had this dialog box before.

Any suggestions?

You have to unzip the file for your TV Tuner, then you go to the directory where it was unzipped to, generally it will be C:/DELL/then the unzipped directory name.

Since your PC was shipped with a DELL OEM XP OS installed Windows 7 is not native to the PC, i.e. it was not embedded as the original OS. With Windows 7 Microsoft has instituted a verification to validate a legal copy, this is easily done by downloading the validation program from Microsoft which runs and verifies your installation.
