recording from my sound card

when i go to the system sound panel (with "show disabled devices" enabled) i can't find my stereo mix to record from my sound card, can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong or what i should do to fix this? thank you.

Can you tell us something about your system?
Has the sound card drivers been loaded (check control panel)?
