hello all, new here...

I want to upgrade my cpu to some better gear, as its been about 18 months since i last built my current one. Planning on going with a better mobo, quad core, faster ram and a new VGU...so everything.

MY concern was, i remember a while back before installing windows 7, that it is registered to that computers profile based on its hardware. Will me upgrading everything (same hard drives tho) "void" my windows copy? If so, how do i go about upgrading?

Since you mentioned installing windows, I am assuming you have a retail copy. Correct me if i am wrong.

If you do have a retail copy, then major hardware changes such as the one you plan will require re-activation. Best case scenario- your computer will activate online. Worst case scenario- you'll need to call MS and explain the situation to them. In either case you'll be fine. I'm also assuming you havent activated this particular copy of windows something like 10 times already. :D
