Stack of last accessed Start Menu Groups?

One thing that's tedious is having to go back into a Start Menu Group to run a different program when you were just there a few seconds ago. Navigate back down to the same spot. What I'm looking for is a hack or freeware utility so that I could click the stack and the last dozen or so groups flip out in a menu. I select one, and it navigates to that place in the Start Menu. Even if the one I want is not in the stack, I could at least select the closest alphabetically and have the mouse move there.. then it's no hassle to navigate from that point to my destination group.

Anyone know of anything that would work similar to this scenario?

I've never seen anything with this feature. Probably because it's tough to deal with start menu. I think it's one of those "name space" things that's a pita to program.

Thing is if you use something frequently, you do something to make it accessible like pin to taskbar or put it on RocketDock or something. It's the stuff you seldom use that's a pain. I never use Start Menu unless I use the program so infrequently that it's not worth putting a shortcut someplace else. In fact most of the time I'm looking through there it's to see if an app that has no entry in the Uninstall List might haved an Uninstall shortcut.

I like the alphabetical scroll down list in that it doesn't cover the desktop, but there should be some provision to easily go near the last group you opened, or the last dozen even.

I'm curious.. what language would you attempt it?
I'm on another board where most of the programmers use AutoHotKey and do small utilities for fun. Everyone is ignoring it so I have to assume it's one of those that aren't fun to do. Lately I do mostly AutoIt3 and AutoHotKey(but for the compiler snobs out there I've done C++ C assembler and a bunch of "real programming languages" for a long time. Just right now with the segue to 64 bit there's nothing really good that's free that doesn't require yet another sandbox install. ahk and AutoIt3 are insignificant to set up and store... plus they can compile to an exe that contains the interpreter so it's nearly the same as a compiled app... and better for mouse the hotkey stuff.)
