Source -Microsoft’s latest Windows client is also the fastest selling operating system in history, having passed the 100 million sold licenses mark in the first six months after launch. Still, there are more interesting statistics to be shared. At Computex in Taipei, Taiwan on June 1st, Steve Guggenheimer, corporate vice president, Original Equipment Manufacturer Division, revealed that Microsoft had been selling 7 copies of Windows 7 per second since the October 22nd 2009 general availability deadline. Albeit this is nothing more than a coincidence, it still is a very interesting statistics, especially seeing as the Redmond company has continually put together marketing stunts around the number 7 to promote Windows 7.
"There's been over 100 million licenses or PCs sold with Windows 7 since the launch. So far, there's been about seven licenses sold every second since the launch occurred. So, we're seeing phenomenal growth in terms of the PC ecosystem. And the nice thing is, we're seeing more and more variety of types of PCs that are coming out. And I'll come back around to that as we go through,” Guggenheimer stated.
