I logged in on my laptop today, and I typed in my password and all that stuff, but when I double clicked on Firefox, it had a "Vista" look to it. I went to the control panel, and went to my display section, then went to themes, then double clicked on Windows 7. Nothing happened. So I dragged the top of the Firefox window to the top of my screen, and the screen had a blue tint. The window went to full size, but it still was a Vista look. This was getting annoying. Can anyone help me? I bought this laptop last year during the winter. Does that mean I have a less updated Windows 7? And still, I can't figure why it looks vista when I clearly have a Windows 7 Home Basic. :sarc: I restarted my laptop and I still looked like Vista. Weird.

Personal opinion: Windows 7 is an "updated" version of Vista. I.E. Windows XP is to XP SP2 as Vista is to Windows 7.

Fortunately that is true. Win7 is Vista SP4 (they skipped SP3). Imagine it would resemble XP or Linux. That would be a real disaster. :D

Screenshots of the original problem would help.

However, I'd imagine there's something going on with Windows 7 Home Basic not including the Aero appearance. Thus the "Vista" look.

Vista, now that it's more mature, runs extremely well on our machines. The only problem we tend to have are with power and auto-sleep modes.

I would have no problem buying a machine with Vista on it. Yeah, it was not ready for primetime when released, and took a while to get there, but it's solid now.

You guys didn't know that Windows 7 is the second and more complex part of Operation Mojave? :roflmao:

On topic, I never hated Vista. Got annoyed at first, but never hated it to the point that is similar to faboyism.

agree 100% with you there. Vista is alright. I had all sorts of problems with it, but none of them were actually really down to Vista.

First I had a top of the range PC which I bought the day Vista X64 came out... big mistake.... drivers and compatibility problems abound. Not Vista's fault of course. developers fault for not actually developing anything even though they had the code for a year. (Win 7 also has similar issues with certain things. *cough Belkin*

My second issue came when i bought this machine. It couldn't handle Vista at first due to low ram. again certainly not Vistas fault.

having said that, if I am forced to use XP or Vista now I just end up cursing at the thing.

I thought whole point of Win 7 was to distance its self as much as possible from the disaster called Vista - Vista looks nice but is very heavy, resource hungry, clunky and unreliable like 1955 Jag - MS described Win 7 has 'faster' 'lightweight', 'responsive' like new motorbike (all the things they knew Vista wasn't)

to describe Win 7 has 'upgrade' to vista sounds like bolt-on to something that's already to clunky - 1955 Jag is now pulling a caravan called Win 7 -

You never knew what The Mojave Experiment was? MS tricked people that they have a new operating system called "Mojave" and they played with it. Some (maybe most; either way, no concrete data is available) said they loved it and thought it was quite cool. They later revealed it was actually Vista.

That is why I joke about 7 being the second part of it- because if you look at it in many ways, it is kind of an upgrade.

Many people thought Vista was clunky because they were running 5-10 year old PCs. I never thought it was clunky. I had a P4 2.26GHz, 770 MB DDR-333 PC that time. In NO WAY was it high end, then again, it's not crappy either.

Vista had bugs- bugs that got fixed in the long run. But then again idiots stick to the old idea and made bad presses off of it. These are the same people who think MS's security is flawed yet they are running XP RTM with IE 6.0.
