This laptop has a built in MIC and it's not working. I JUST did a fresh install/reformat of Windows 7 Ultimate not even 30 min ago. I can't install the drivers from the HP website for Audio, because I get an error message saying NO MEDIA TYPE FOUND FOR THIS DRIVER. The speakers work fine, the built in webcam works fine, just not the mic. It doesn't matter if I try to install in safe mode, as admin, or install with reccomended settings, or if I choose settings for xp, vista, ect. NOTHING WORKS.

If ANYONE can help me or has had this issue and fixed it PLEASE let me know what to do.

I THINK I heard of someone saying that Realtek has a driver that works but I can't find it, and at one point on a previous install I tried one that I found, it would say it installed properly and then it would revert back to the microsoft installed driver or something.... I'm not sure, maybe I did something wrong but it didn't work. NOTHING I have tried has worked. This is SO maddening. I've seached on forums and on google and bing and ask.com and majorgeeks, I've tried so many things and I just can't fix it. PLEASE help me if you can. Thank you so much.

NOTE: Audio Driver Conexant High Def SmartAudio 221 Default Device has a green check by it, microsoft says it's up to date, but I've tried using the sound recorder just now and it doesn't pick anything up... also, if I plug in earphones, the speakers keep playing and nothing comes out of the earphones.

The driver thing says rear pannel jack, but mine are on the front of the laptop... don't know if this matters or not.

Have you checked in device manager to see if the driver is installed and working?
type device manager in search>go to sound tab. Is the driver listed there? does it have a yellow exclamation point on it? is there any unknown devices listed?

Yeah, it shows green, so the system thinks it's installed properly.
I think if I could find a driver for Conexant HD Audio for Windows 7 I could get it to work but I can't find one on HP's website, I don't know the first version laptop they made with a conexant card that runs windows 7, I think I'll check my friends laptop in a few days to see if her's will work on mine. I wen't to HPs website and downloaded like 10 drivers for different versions of laptops running windows 7 and tried to install but it says the driver is not for the system I'm on, so I don't know if it will work but I hope it will.

This is SO maddening, thanks for the suggestion.

Every time I uninstall the driver that MS installed and then scan for hardware changes it automatically reinstalls the driver so I can't manually FORCE install the Vista driver because it says it's "already up to date". HELP!

try majorgeeks.com to download realtek "Vista_Win7_R249" and run the application but you need to uninstall the current HDA through your device manager first.

about webcam drivers for dv2815nr

Hi Bastof...

Could you please tell me which driver you used for the built-in camera in your dv2815nr laptop?

I wasn't able to make the webcam work after I installed Windows 7 ultimate.

Please let me know which driver do you use and from where I can download it.
Some print screens about the webcam in your device manager console would be helpful.

I'll really appreciate your help!!
