just got a new motherboard and wanted to reinstall windows 7 64bit
but the installer just keeps freezing on me , not crashing ,just after windows loads the files and then the windows 7 wallpaper comes but then nothing happens after that i can still move the mouse so is not crashed like i said.
i tried installing the other way from inside windows but once it copys all the files then reboot it freezes again, but this time with the words "windows is being installed" or something along those lines

i really would appreciate if someone could solve this for me im out of ideas except installing it on my hardrive on someones else pc then put the hdd back in my pc but its a pain in the a**

so someone come to the rescue and earn some rep:party::cool:

I would first try to drain the power from the board by unplugging the power supply and hitting the start button. Sometimes that will fix the problem, if not unplug and clear the power again by pushing the start button but this time try clearing the cmos and then try to install Windows 7 again. Be sure and reset everything in bios to how it was before and you may also need to enable your sata drives.

May I ask why you have had to reinstall so many times, Gilly?

Perhaps chronic performance issues are the result of rolling over the old install into an Upgrade rather than a clean reinstall?

The best fix of all is a clean reinstall sometimes. A repair install reimports corrupt settings and often does not put one beyond performance drawbacks.

I had this very same problem. If clearing the CMOS does not fix it. You need to flash the BIOS with the newest. Even if it is the same version it is NOT, you need to force flash it. Fixed my system!!

Defective Motherboard would be my guess, if you have isolated all other devices (DVD/CD ROM/RW, Video Card, Memory, etc)

Keep in mind an alternative to reinstall is capturing a Win7 Backup image externallyl once you get it up and running perfectly. Then reimaging just takes 15-20 minutes and you are back to your best setup.

However I know the withdrawals required to do this, as a clean reinstall enthusiast myself. I love that squeaky "better-than-new-computer" feeling and can't quite accept that reimaging will do the job just as good without the workload.
