As a young lad, "Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2" and David Gilmour's beautiful guitar solo in it caught a hold of me long before I knew anything about Pink Floyd. I even remember taping it off the radio on my boom box, and wishing the DJ would shut up and stop talking over the beginning and end of the song.:D

Raido I haven't listened to it in years, do they still talk over songs?

Wow Radio how my life has changed with the computer age. My vehicles all have USB ports or play MP3's off CD. I load songs on my USB Flash Drive and have it with me all the time. I can listen to music at work, home, in the car, on site working on systems, etc. New song just add it, old song I don't like just delete it. No talk, no commercials just the music I like. Again I cannot remember the last time I listened to radio. Wow I forgot that it was still out there.

Im a white boy from Wisconsin here in the USA, having said that, Crossroads by Bone Thugs and Harmony when I was like 5 was the first for me. My aunt had died in a Motorcycle accident just before I heard it (Semi-driver fell asleep at the wheel, head on collision, not good times).

To this day I still burn that song on mix CDs

I posted earlier that no song has changed my life but after thinking about it some more I will say that a certain genre of music had an affect on me. I grew up during the 60's and a lot of the music I listened to then had a strong antiwar sentiment which I picked up.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.

I am the same way, I never listen to the radio. I play my music and podcasts one either my computer (which I have set to output through my stereo system)or one of three MP3 players.

As far as commercials, I had to laugh at my boss recently. He bought an 8GB iPod Touch for the specific purpose of being able to listen to Pandora "radio" and at first it was cool....until the wifi signal started getting spotty. The funniest thing, though, was he updated the Pandora app on his Touch, and now, there are commercials!:roflmao:

I have two that always come to mind:

I love rock and roll by Joan Jett, opened the door to Rock for me as a young kid

This one is kind of embaresing but I will own it:

Crazy for you by Madonna, first song I remember bringing true emotion to me through music (I cried) I credit this song for the start of me being a musician, I was 9 at the time, just knowing you can actually impart emotion on someone through music.

Geeve

Can't say ANY song I've ever heard has made any impact on my life.

I agree. There have been songs that made me start shaking my hips like Forrest Gump but an impact on my life? No.

One song that I always remembered as a kid was "Chariots of Fire" while watching the USAF Thunderbirds in flight. Of course flying was always a dream but lack of 20/20 vision ruined that chance. I can still learn to fly a propeller plane but never a jet fighter.
