Parental Control Help; make an account be logged on for only 2.5 hours

I need to know how to make an account have a set time limit. My son has been using the computer for long periods of time, and i wanted to know if I could somehow make it so that his account could be logged on for only 2.5 hours per day. I'm using Window 7 Ultimate. I want to know if you could do this by downloading additional controls. Please help. I need to know really bad.......

That half solves the problem.

Within Windows you are only able to set the TIMES OF DAY when the user can use the computer (i.e. from 4 -8PM). There is no way to include AMOUNT OF TIME (i.e. between 8AM and 6PM, 2 Total Hours of Use).

That's where 3rd party software comes in, and I suggested the best one I could find

This will limit the amount of time to whatever value you choose for each session, however it is possible to extend by restarting.

I have just had a quick look at the program suggested by Kirsch, and although it is not free ($29.95 USD), it would appear to do exactly what you want.

Nope, that won't be of any help ............ i want to be able to have the account on for only 2.5 hours, not have the time when you can't log on....... thnx anyways......

Well, i don't wanna sound cheap , but i really don't wanna pay 30 bucks just to set a time limit for my children. Thnx anyways

Restrict it between a 2 hour period and problem resolved. That way the child knows when he/she can use the computer. I did this for my daughter, set her to use the computer from 3-5 PM every day. She was able to get in there without a problem. It logged her out automatically at 5 PM. She complained that she wasn't able to save her game, I told her to watch the clock better.

Parent the child, don't let them parent you.

This board isn't about how to raise kids, its about Windows.

The OP already stated that they wouldn't use your solution due to not wanting to pay for anything. The next best thing is to use what Microsoft already includes, just dictate 2 hours out of the day that they have to use the computer. If the child doesn't like it, they can do without.

Since you are 23 and don't have kids, take my advice about "raising kids" as something you can use towards the future.

True, this board is about Windows but haven't you seen the ads for Windows 7 yet? Taking the average person (such as the OP) and saying that Windows was their idea. Windows 7 has been made for the people by the people. So understanding people's needs is quite essential to supporting them.
