computer can't hibernate or sleep, screen will turn off but cpu is on

i just built this computer i did everything try to put it to sleep or hibernate, the screen will turn off but the computer is still running, i've tried to enable hibernation option by turning it on in command center powercfg -h on. and i went to disk clean up the Hibernation File Cleaner is not there.

when it put powercfg a it saids "the following states are available standby "s1" hibernate"i also went to bios and the setting is on S1, i also disable the network adapter from waking the computer up. i've tried everything!!! please help!!

i have

Processor - AMD Anthlon ii x4 635

MotherBoard- msi 785gm-E51 (MS-7596)

Graphic Card - nvida geforce 9800 gtx+

ram- 4g ddr3 1600

System - windows 7 64 bit.

It's likely a device or driver will be stopping the sleep state so what works for me is open "power options" from the control panel and set as balanced then go to change plan settings set turn off screen to never then sleep to something like 2 mins .........

now go to "change advanced power settings" and try wireless adapter in "medium power saving mode" then for sleep set hybrid sleep and hibernate to off, for USB settings "USB selective suspend" as enabled, power buttons and lid as your choice , PCI express as "moderate power settings"

It is also possible that a USB device such as bluetooth can be stopping sleep state so experiment with turning the device on or off or even unplugging while you test and make sure they are using the latest drivers ?

try that and see if if your PC will sleep, and for further debugging from an elevated cmd prompt run : powercfg -energy and note path output to system32 folder , view energy-report.html copy out of your system32 folder into an easy access folder or desktop then view in your browser for a detailed report ?

If you do get it to sleep you can go back to advanced and set hibernation on, using the hybrid sleep setting, and you can adjust your time and turn off display to your liking

i went to command and put in powercfg a - the computer support s1, but the follow sleep states are not available on this system, standby <s2> and standby <s3> or hybrid sleep.

i went to get a energy report it can't find the link to open it. i also put keyboard and mouse can't wake the computer it up. it still can't go to sleep. when i put it to sleep the fan run really hard and it keeps running and it doesn't shut down.

when i try to hibernate it it will just turn the screen off and turn it on again.

i tried what you said but it didn't work.

It's very likely their is a driver or device that needs updating or removing in order to sleep ?

the fan will run at full speed while the system tries to close devices and sleep but if theirs a driver that doesn't support sleep it will fail ?
