Despite someone in the family who works for Dell (not me) they've always seemed to slightly disappoint me in comparison to brands like HP. There notebooks have always seemed to be a bit thicker, kinda clunkier looking, and just didn't seem or feel to have a quality build.
My brother just purchased an Alienware M11x (Dell owned brand) and loves it, however I've heard the other Alienware laptops are absolutely terrible, and when i say this, I don't mean it in and way of "he said she said," I'm talking hundred's of absolutely negative reviews on models like the Alienware m17x. Of course not everyone will have these problems, but this line of Alienware/Dell laptops seems to have some great positives, and some really bad negatives.
With that said, the next laptop I purchase will more than likely be from HP (when I do this, it will be me 2nd laptop purchased in gen) as I've had my current one for 3 years (to date literally today I think) and despite the occasional hangup's (Windows errors etc) haven't had one problem with the build of the PC itself.
