Hi
I have a Matrox Millenium P650 PCI 128mb GCard. Matrox does not support the card for Win7 drivers. The card worked on Win XP but cannot work on Win7. Any suggestions? Thx in advance

rajun69, welcome to the forums.

Just had a quick look at the Matrox download page and while there isn't a Windows 7 driver for that card, there is a Vista driver (both 32 and 64 bit) that will probably work with Windows 7.

You may have to use compatibility mode to get it to install if it won't install normally,

Hi Stormy13
Thx for your reply. Yep just tried that about an hour before i read your msg. Does not work either. I can't believe that a company like Matrox cannot offer support o their products. I had to call them at 4am (as I'm in Australia) and they were totally unhelpful..more dismissive....The tech support suggested I buy another one of their cards....NEVER again.

I have tried vista drivers and XP drivers in compatibility modes. None of them work.

Let me know if you think of something else....

It costs time and money to make drivers. If the hardware is really outdated with a small user base, it is not cost effective to keep supporting the hardware.

I see that they aren't WDDM 1.0 drivers, but rather XDDM (for XP).

It still may be possible to get them running under Win7, if you can live without Aero Glass.

As for rajun69's exhortation to not buy Matrox, no worries - I think that their retail presence in the USA is almost nil now.

Whether Matrox is any worse than nVidia or ATI (AMD) in terms of abandoning driver support for legacy products, I have no idea. I'm surprised at the number of people who expect perpetual driver support for exisiting hardware, even though it makes no money for the hardware manufacturers. (Good will must have some value, although it must be hard to monetize.)

Well finally received a call from Matrox. They are definitely not supporting the card with Win 7.
Just bought a HIS ATI HD 4350 PCI 512MB 64-bit DDR2, as a replacement. Hopefully it will work.

Thanks for all you input.

Although the title for the driver is noted as Server 2008 R2 it is a compatible driver for windows 7. Start at:
Matrox Graphics - Support - Driver Download and select your options until you get to the download page.
