Looking for a WDDM video card driver

I installed a Sapphire Radeon X1300 PCI-e card in a system running Windows 7 Home Premium. The system runs a lot better with the card but I get the following error when I try using the Aero glass effect:

"The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM)."

Haven't had much luck trying to find this one on my own. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums please fill in all your system specs this will help us help you. From what I know about ATi and it is limited, the X1300 has been relegated to legacy drivers, the best place to look is on the AMD ATI site for more information The Catylast 9.4 driver is listed but only for Vista 32 bit with a lot of disclaimers ATI Catalystâ„¢ Legacy Display Driver. Unfortunately I use Nvidia so I certian those members who use ATI can provide you with better information. Fabe

Hi jacatone,

To help we need to know what drivers to find 32bit or 64 bit.
Could you please let us know if you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows 7?

If you're not sure, then right click on COMPUTER (in the start menu) and select properties. When the screen opens, look under "system type".

-Timo

Also check the Sapphire drivers here.

Used the Windows updater in Device Manager and that seemed to find the driver. Aero works great now. I did get an error message that my "Desktop Window Manager" was disabled. Should it be enabled and if so, how do I configure it?

Great Jacatone,

Glad you got it working. If you do have any problems with the Microsoft downloaded drivers, then grab the official latest from either of the sites that Fabe or I posted.

RE: DWM being disabled, this confuses me as you said that Aero is running. Let's hope that DWM wasn't disabled on purpose by your graphics card drivers.
Please check if the service is running. Type Services.msc into RUN or SEARCH and press ENTER. Scroll down the list and look for thw Desktop Window Manager. It should be set to startup Automatically and the status should be "Started". If not double click on it and make the correct changes.
