2 Issues with a fresh install of W7 RC 7100 x64 on a Dell XPS M1330.

Issue 1
Every other reboot my mouse stops responding. I need to do another restart with the keyboard and then it functions again. Then if I do another restart it stops working. Its like clockwork.

Issue 2
Sleep mode crashes. It goes in to sleep mode fine. if I come back a little bit later and open the lid it doesn't turn on. I push the button and it boots up and tells me it shutdown unexpectedly and has safe mode options.

These are the same 2 issues I had with an earlier version of windows 7 6 months ago. They still haven't fixed this kind of basic stuff?

Anyone have any solution to this?

The release candidate of Windows 7 is out. You can see out hands-on evaluation here.
Of course, every time a major release like this comes out it gets leaked on to BitTorrent, the open peer-to-peer network, and that has happened with Windows 7 as well. But downloading and installing these copies of it is inadvisable if you believe the Neowin report that these torrents have been infected with a trojan horse. They show an Avast generic detection of a trojan.
"Oh yeah, sure it's infected, they just want to trick us into not using it" you may be saying to yourself. Well, maybe, but it's a credible story from where I sit, since we know that earlier this year pirated torrents of Apple's iWork '09 and Adobe Photoshop CS4 were infected with a trojan that was used to create a botnet. It definitely could be as true of these torrents; it's not like there's any quality control out there on BitTorrent.
Neowin users have other advice: that you check the MD5 checksum against one known to be good, but that's not a guarantee that someone didn't build a new ISO with a new MD5. We're not too fond of piracy in any event and recommend that you wait for a genuine copy in the next few months.

Just thought I'd give some input--I'm using RC1 x32 on my m1330 and I have neither of these problems. It's flawless.

I'm guess it's the 64 bit version then. thats what I am running. I also just came back to my laptop while it was in sleep mode and i had vertical colorful lines slowly fade in. I had to hard boot the laptop by holding down the power button. Shame MS has not fixed this stuff.

Maybe I will give the 32 bit version a shot.... It would be nice if I could use all of my RAM....

Try updating the synaptics driver, and grab the latest graphics card driver. Also, have you tried changing the AHCI setting in the bios (may require a reinstall).

Anyone else have any ideas? I'm still getting the 9F blue screen randomly when the laptop is asleep for awhile. This is maddening.

nvidia drivers suck

Under Vista, I got the 9f in sleep on every single driver I downloaded from Laptops2go, etc. The only driver I did not experience this on was the one from Dell's site 176.44. Every other driver I tried.

So, it might be worth trying to use that driver under 7 and see if your problem goes away. I would love to hear your results and have this confirmed independently.

Thanks.
