Sorry Mate, you are out of luck, the only way you will be able to play COD4 is if you use servers that don't use Punk Buster. Apparently Even Balance wont be fixing the problem with the unknown API kicks until Windows 7 is at RTM.

but i am talking about XP Mode as in virtual machine

not XP compatibility mode

isnt that how the XP mode works? , virtualizing (if thats a word) a XP loaded machine??

i guess no just because u may not have enough RAM as XPMode itself utlizes more RAM(2GB i guess)!!!

and a note is that in XPMode it shows only 256RAM although more RAM is available

i have plenty of RAM ... 4GB (had 8GB, but it puts more stress on MB with OC, so decided to give that to my sister so she could play games)

that seems rather silly to only allow 256MB RAM in XP Mode ... considering minimum system requirements is more than that, isnt it?

Do you think a virtual machine has a dedicated 3d graphics card? No! How can it render that much graphics....look at the display adapter on the VM, I am sure that does not meet the minimum requirements to play a 3d game like that.

They have done something similar with onlive however, but using monster servers with custom 3d cards to render the game natively, and then stream the video over the web....so yo could wait until onlive launches and then it will work.

COD 4 runs fine for me

I'm running Windows 7 64 ultimate and COD4 runs great for me. I haven't had any problems with punkbuster and I play on PB servers. Have you tried manually updating punkbuster? If not google pbsetup and update from there.

It was only fixed for the official RC, nearly all builds after that have unknown API kicks again.

Exactly. I also tried with COD4 and it plays like a slideshow if at all. You can always lower the resolution and the details/graphics settings but running games on a virtual machine and achieving smooth/playable FPS is not possible.
