Installed win 7 upgrade and now i get a installation message!

Hi i recently installed win 7 via an upgrade and everytime i boot up the laptop and it gets to the desktop it say installing hp customer assisatnt but then fails and asks me to locate the programme, does anyone know how to remove this from happening?

Also whilist on this note the same happens with an email it says there is no email client please install one even though i have installed windos live mail so does anyone know how to remove both of these?

Go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and remove any hp related software, not including drivers.

Did you set Live Mail to be your default mail program?

Those come standard on an HP Machine, they all can be removed by

Start>Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features> "HP xxxx">"Right-click"> Uninstall.

It wont hurt a thing.

Ye thanks for the info i knew how to remove programmes i didnt think it would just be that simple i thought it was some sort of erro aha i didnt even think of looking in there,

As there may be some progs/apps from HP you may want to keep, instead of removing everything willy nilly; have a look at the little tutorial at the link below to see if you can find the exact one causing the issue.

Thanks for your guide it looks very useful and im in the provess of it now, the email message says if you have installed an email appliaction already then assosiate ti within the default programmes list but i dont know what to assosiate there are ot many files within ythe list,

can anyone help me out here?

I also tryed removing entries from the startup and there were only two which were relevent, one didnt stop it so i enabled that again and i am just trying the second one now but i dont think it will work as the name is different, if it dont what other root can i take?

Luckily, HP Doesn't give you that much to screw up. Every program you delete, you can get back, by there website or by system restore. Not that I am recommending those options, but its nothing you cant get back.

Just to make sure, you are restarting the PC when you disable an entry to complete the process?

Yep restarting everytime there was only 3 listed as hp and i only tryed 2 cause the other option had no relevence to the issue at all,

Go into the Control Panel, click on Default Programs, then click on the bottom link to "set program access and computer default". You'll be able to set Windows Live Mail as your default email program in 'custom'

When you get a chance you should do a superior clean install with the Upgrade Kit Win7 DVD to overcome the corruption imported from Vista and remaining on the HD from now-useless HP utility and recovery partitions.

Back up your files and a Win7 backup image of your HDD, gather your program installers, then wipe the HD for cleanest install: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html

The DVD is nearly driver complete with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Any missing drivers can then be found on your HP drivers/apps disk or on the Support DOwnloads webpage for your model computer.

Ye i was going to do a clean wipe but i didnt as it saved a lot of time as all of the pgorammes and files remained on the laptop,

In the end i found out it would have been much more quicker if i did do a fresh full install rather than upgrading it, the time it took the files to move over took almost and hour lmao,
