I have a previously reported (by others) problem of my Alienware M17x video cam image being upside down. Heaven forbid there was some QA test for putting the cameras in upside down in the laptops....I guess in this day and age in this stupid careless working world that is just to much to expect out of people now adays....

In any case I have searched high and low for the correct driver to my particular camera. I have been able to nail it down to the following information:

D-MAX USB 2.0 UVC webcam driver.

But the trail goes cold there as everyplace that can possibly have a listed download takes you to a screen where you have to buy a piece of software that may only find a possibly correct model version candidate.

This just ticks me off even further that I have to buy a piece of software to locate the driver somewhere out there in cyber-space that I should be able to get freely through the manufacturer.

So I would like to know if someone would be willing to just please send me the damn drivers for Windows 7 64-bit AND Vista 64-bit so I can resolve this problem caused by some flagrant idiot who installed the camera and so I don't have to put any money toward those carpet-bagger vendors who want you to buy their driver locator software?

Please don't anyone bother to suggest Alienware or Windows Update because their drivers do nothing to resolve the issue. My camera device driver info is as follows:

USB\VID_174F&PID_8A51&REV_0713&MI_00

Please just respond here with any download info or logistics to get the drivers to me and we can go from there to get this problem finally resolved.

Seeing as Alienware is part of Dell, you should have just been able to go to Dells tech support site to get the driver.

I agree and I have done that. Unfortunately their drivers do nothing to resolve the issue. In fact the help forum of theirs seems to be purposely avoiding the issue as the forum contains nothing but people such as myself who are floundering with the issue and the only response from Dell/Alienware is a "canned" one pointing to the drivers of theirs that don't resolve the issues. And everyone has informed them of the lack of resolve yet nothing more has been done about it. It's as if Dell/Alienware cannot control the camera vendor since the drivers are foreign imported applications.

Once again the proverbial "Let's outsource" and they save money but as usual the quality deliverables of the outsoucing just isn't there because there is NO quality control in these geographic places that are outsourced to because the outsourced people are 20 years behind the eveolutionary "quality" curve we have come to already learn and address.

SO now we have to RELIVE the mistakes we already learned until these outsourced vendors catch up on QA concepts.

OH no please no Racism it is hard enough to live in the world with people as it is I think the point is he is saying no real Q&A is being done since when suppliers go to other sourses or countries the qualifacations for passing are different compared to United States standards i think in so many words that is what he ment

Are you uninstalling the current driver(s) before attempting to install the new one(s)? Some drives also have a command prompt option to override the installation of the new drivers, even if it thinks that the current drivers are fine, which is what you want to do.

Solar....Thanks for the great effort on your part to help me. Unfortunately the drivers you found actually unzsip to be the same driver Alienware supplied me with that didn't correct the problem. I still installed them just in case but it didn't invert the image.

Having done a pretty exhaustive web search I haven't found anywhere where this problem has been resolved short of one person's solution of actually dismantling the screen and physically reversing the webcam orientation which I am not inclined to risk to do.

All the "solutions" that I found out on the web only can invert the image after the live camera stream has been saved into a video file format. Only one webcam application product (not a driver) I found yesterday actually reverses a live session in real time without streaming to a file first.

However the "AlienSense" facial datametrics security screen that comes up at login still shows the upsidedown live video. The application I found that can invert the webcam, being that it is an application and NOT a driver does NOT hook the webcam at bootup prior to the AlienSense login screen executing.

At least that application is a step in the right direction....

Well, it's exactly what he SAID, so one would assume that, yes, it's also what he meant.

Quality control and safety standards in 3rd and 2nd world countries are not as strict as they are in places such as the U.S., Japan, and other industrialized nations.

Did I miss the part where he mentioned ANYTHING about race?
