Win7 - Swap CD-ROM & HDD letters?

I have 2 HDD installed (C) & (E) plus a CD-ROM (D). I wish to swap the letters of (D) and (E) around so that 2nd HDD is my (D) drive and the CD-ROM becomes the (E) drive.

(The 2nd HDD is an IDE drive taken from my old computer and occupies the sole IDE slot on my mb - all the other mb connectors are for SATA drives.)

Is this swap possible? How do I do this?

Thanks for the quick response Petey7.

I guess I would need to make this a 3 stage operation then.
1. change the CD-ROM to an assigned letter, say (H)
2. change the 2nd HDD from (E) to (D)
3. change the CD-ROM from (H) to (E)

Is that how to do it?

I haven't really done it myself in a long time, but it sounds like a good idea to me.
