Corsair H50 temps

I like the Corsair H50 water cooler, great price and it works. The hoses COULD BE a lot less stiff though.....i feel the uber stiff hoses are causing a lot of stress on the radiator pipes........just my 2 cents

My radiator is the other way round if that makes any difference.

The H70 is just around the corner if it already hasn't been released.

further updates after a (few weeks) of using the H50!

while i have NOT had any probs temp-wise or leak wise, i do feel that Corsair should do the following:

- softer hoses!!! softer hoses!!!! softer hoses!!!!! geeebus man....the hoses that come with the cooler are more rigid than the copper plumbing in my house! they are putting strain on the inlet/outlet pipes of the rad BIGTIME......where most of the leaks have been reported (cracked inlet/outlet pipes).............

HOWEVER, that rant aside, i like the system.......i like the fact one can mount the rad and CPU heatsink/pump any way

I like the compactness, price and overall looks of the unit

and i cannot argue with the low temps i get........

I looked at one of these but
1). Seems to be a messy look to me. Cannot do much with the hoses and such
2). Reviews don't seem to show that temps are all that low with this cooler compared to others in the same price area.

Ditto - I like the idea behind it, and they do perform quite adequately, but are still outperformed by some air coolers.

Having said that, you could certainly do a lot worse.

I very much like my H50...
But I saw this: ECO C240 A.L.C. and think that it may replace the H50 on my current pc and I'll retire the H50 to my daughter's pc.

Comparing it to a stock Intel heatsink isn't really saying anything. How about some comparisons to the H50???

My new heatsink the Zalman ShenZhen hp-92f-02a that I bought on my vacation in China gives me about the same temperatures as the Intel stock hsf although I did put a little too less thermal paste on it (about 1/3 of a pea size and also atempted to spread the thermal paste over the cpu with a index card without much avail). The hsf costed 65yuan including shipping which converts to just under $10.

From what I have read, I'm not sure the 240 is worth 2.5x as much as the Corsair H50.

You aren't supposed to spread around the thermal paste. You are intended to let it spread out on it's own.

Yeah, If you do the pea drop thing, just let the heatsink spread it.

Now as I said I recently looked at the Corsair H50 and so comparisons of the two units are inevitable. In all the testing the H50 and the ECO put up very similar cooling numbers. Considering how close the two designs are this was to be expected. The difference for me was the mounting system. The ECO makes use of the existing back plate on AMD systems and uses a custom backplate for Intel. While the Corsair was a two step process to install the ECO was much simpler with 4 thumb screws being all that is needed to mount the cooler.

CONCLUSION AS OF MAY 11, 2010:
Both coolers are doing their job. It seems that CoolIt have a small uphill battle due to some past issues. Corsair has a great rep for being second to none in their customer service. Both either have or will have issues at some point. That’s the nature of the beast AKA “the law of large numbers” you do enough of anything and you’re bound to have a few issues here and there.

I think this will end up being a Ford vs. Chevy thing eventually. So at this point I will have to say it is a matter of personal preference.

These statements says it all considering they put up similar numbers. With that said, it's really going to come down to price.

Thanks for that info Sygnus. Honestly, I really had not even looked for any reviews... yet... odd as that may seem! I saw in passing one day and saw the radiator and immediately thought: Larger radiator = better cooling. Oh well. The H70 should be out soon anyway.

I see the Corsair H70 is up and on their site. It looks killer except for it only comes with dual Corsair fans so toss them and order up two premium fans and your off to the OC races ! I just installed my first water system H50 and it is performing very well and it's in a dual push pull configuration with it drawing fresh air from the top of my case and exhausting over my ram ! Working like a dream !

Yeah believe me I was very skeptical at first until I read all the info and reviews and said what the hell. I love the way it opens up the case! What truly blows my mind are the monster six fan set up's that cool every chip in your case even your single and dual sli set up's. I marvel at the hardware but water and electricity dance an odd dance and your right it is always a risk!

I'm in the same boat...in fact with my overclock on my Q9550 (2.83 to 3.2)...I just stayed with the stock Intel cooler. Works like a treat.

Yeah my old case temps largely due to extremely high ambient temps due to where I live and the room I'm in which can easily reach 90+ degrees. This forced me into a huge Zalman fan at first and when that was still producing high temps I went with a new case and the H50 (wish the H70 had been an option). I think if I was closer to the beach or the insulation was better to hold the summer heat down than the Zalman would have been all I would have need with a larger case being the icing on the cake.

I have the H50 and like the H70 but I've also been looking at this cooler Ultra ChillTEC 939/AM2/AM3/775/1366 Thermal Electric Overclocking CPU Cooler With Controller at TigerDirect.com I've yet to take a look at a lot of reviews or comparisons but It's in the same price range without the risk of leakage.
It's a pretty cool technology (no pun intended) And would make for a cleaner looking case for those of us with pparks1's quirks. Nice photo super clean! Fabe

the fabe, I was interested in this as well and I have a ton of Ultra products and they mostly perform well and are a good value. I was swayed by calling tech support for my mobo and they are all Zalman men..lol. So I tried it. I researched the Peltier Cooler technology and was very interested but the reviews are mixed as is normal. Most complaints are for size and fan quality which for me isn't a major issue as we should have figured the size before hand and fans are fans. Like hard drives there are only two types of fans those that have stopped and those about to stop ...lol. Going with the H50 and or water was a big risk in my mind but one ultimately I'm glad I took. I think the performance of the H50 and the Ultra are going to be on par with the larger H70 taking the performance edge and second only to the huge multi core custom water rigs for the truly possesed !
