how to make the quitting mozilla from processes faster

hi
when I quitt mozilla firefox, it needs a few minutes to end it in processes, so when i want to go to mozilla i must wait or quitt it in processes
it is not a problem for me because i don't quit mozilla and run it ....
but my mum has problems with this because she don't know to go to processes, and it is long to wait 2-3 minutes every 15 minutes

plz help me to make the quitting mozzila from processes faster

When you close Firefox, you are given the options of saving the page and tabs you are on. This increases the time to close. You can select Quit and not save the current page. This will speed it up a little.

Hi, vkristijan.

I generally have Firefox open on two different machines, side-by-side. One has just a few tabs open and but the workhorse always has a minimum of 15 tabs open -- frequently more. I find that the workhorse also takes some time for the Firefox process to end on its own.

If you have a lot of tabs open before exiting Firefox, perhaps you could start closing tabs you aren't using before exiting. You may also want to see if you have a lot of unused add-ons that should be disabled or, preferably, uninstalled.

According to the MozillaZine Knowledge Base, Firefox 3 has a delayed shutdown. Instead of closing Firefox by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner, try using "File -> Exit" and see if that results in a cleaner shutdown. Otherwise, try the additional suggestions at Firefox hangs - MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

I did Firefox as my main browser for years. I still keep it current for the few things I can't do in Chrome Development version. But single exe loading and closing is so slow. Also in FF I have 19 AddOns to do what I do in Chrome with 6 Extensions. Even if the drive isn't busy FF is slow opening. But if you have a busy drive, forget it. (I used to run it out of a Ramdisk just to speed up opening until I got fed up having to do that.)

You should do yourself a favor and try Chrome. It jumps off the HD when you start it. 5 or 6 or 7 exe running at the same time makes it snappy!!

It does have a few quirks. Don't use XMarcs bookmark sync for both Firefox and Chrome or it will endlessly loop syncing each other's bookmarks. But man it's fast!! Plus I don't get the hassle of updates taking me to sites every time a FF AddOn is updated. Chrome autoupdate is so smooth I only know what version I have if I look in the About box. I never notice it updating.

Go for the Development version. It's plenty stable. I've been using it for months. It's more stable than my FF "stable" version(3.6.8)

Okay, I gave this some thought. Reminds me of DOS (LOL), but you can create a batch file. Keep the link on the desktop. It will allow you to kill the process you designate.
TASKKILL /F /T /IM firefox.exe
I'm assuming you can create a simple batch file using this command line.

Regularly killing it though, there's a good chance of hosing one or more of all those AddOns. You can definitely speed it up by launching the portable version from a Ram disk if you have the ram to spare. It's not that hard to do. Basically figure out how many MB you need and create a Fat32 ram disk(faster than NTFS) and on startup, use a batch to xcopy the portable FF folder into the ramdisk. It's better than saving Ram disk contents. That way you're asking for slow system shutdown.

Figures as soon as I boast about Chrome my LastPass gets hosed and I have to back off to an older version of Chrome. LastPass works now but favicons are hosed.

try using CCleaner to keep firefox free from clogged files which slow it down.

choose applications and tick all the mozilla boxes. then click run cleaner.

all saved files will be deleted to relieve firefox

also saving pages does slow down mozilla as it has to save Before exiting.
