How do I know if my Notebook is EFI based ot not?

I have an ASUS G72. I have 2 internal hard drives and I want to format the second hard drive as GUID for easy partitioning.

As I have read in this forum and on the internet, for GUID, you need an EFI based computer.

How can I know that my ASUS G72 notebook is compatible with GUID?

Should I format my second hard drive as GUID?

All suggestions welcome.

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't support EFI (I think only high end Asus desktop MBs support EFI).

I came to this conclusion by the fact that the driver download section of the Asus website lists only BIOS updates and not EFI-BIOS updates or EFI updates.

Thanks for saving me the work on that, Petey.

Not to mention the matter of fact that there is no point in using EFI and a GUID partition unless you are trying to use a 2.2+TB disk as your boot drive.

My apologies. They aren't on the market over here yet (as far as I am aware, at any rate not at that price!).

My point still stands though, it's not over 2TB even with that.

I have also punished myself by not buying some über cheap storage from across the pond .

It looks like unless you plan to have more than four partitions per disk, or partitions larger then 2TB, then EFI isn't necessary.
