When I burn a 3.5GB RAR File using Win7's built-in burner, it's always getting "stuck" at random parts of the process. Sometimes, it gets stuck at the middle of the process, sometimes towards the end, and etc. When it gets stuck, you will see that the rate (KB/s) will not vary and it is constant. I use a LG Hitachi GBW-T10N Bluray Combo Drive with my laptop and it has the latest firmware UN09. Why is this so?

By the way, this doesn't happen when I burn using ImgBurn. Please help. Thanks.

If you are using the "mastered" mode with Win 7 burning that could be the problem as according to the Help File it can take up to double the disc space for the burning and if you have a 3.5GB file and burn it to a DVD it would exceed the capacity of the DVD.

Hmm.. But it doesn't give any error or anything? It just gets stuck, is that normal?

When I insert the blank DVD disc in my drive, I get two options, "Like a USB Flash Drive" and "With a CD/DVD Player". When you say "mastered" mode, are you referring to "Like a USB Flash Drive" ??

EDIT: I see that the "Like a USB Flash Drive" option is the Live File System and the "With a CD/DVD Player" is the Mastered Mode. I'm using the Live File System, why is it having that problem?

The format that you are using is basically the "packet writing" mode as it first formats the disc and then writes the data to the disc. This is the least reliable burning method (The Nero program for this is "InCD" and Roxio calls it "drag to disc" (formerly Direct Disc) and not usually recommended.

As noted if ImgBurn works OK, that is better than the built in Windows burning (which originally was supplied to Microsoft by Roxio in XP - don't know if that is still the way it is).

Hmmm. Weird thing is sometimes I can burn a DVD using the same method successfully but most of the time no. I remembered burning pictures on a DVD on my desktop computer with the same method and working flawlessly. Could it be compatibility between the Bluray drive and the Win7 built-in burner?
