Windows 7 yesterday Vista today :-( HELP

Hi guys hope you can help. I upgraded to W7 32bit from Vista in January with an upgrade disk i got from Acer. Recently my pc lost one of the hard drive partitions (120gb of a 250gb disk) and in an effort to retrieve the missing data of it i accidently done something wrong to how the pc boots. Acer recovery tools has restored my machine back to Vista currently and i have no way of putting it back to Windows 7 as i cannot find my install disc although i do have my licence key (i always digitally record all receipts, licence keys etc). Basically my question is how do i reinstall W7 without the original disk? Also is it possible to do a clean install and reformat my entire hard drive to get back the missing 120gb. Thanks in advance guys hope someone can help

PS My PC is an Acer 5920g, Intel core duo T5750 2.00ghz 4gb Ram, Hitachi 250gb (cant think of anything else relevant)

If you can borrow a Win 7 dvd install with it and use your key no problem

ps yes when you install delete that partition and regain the whole disk

I heard that with a key, you can do an anytime upgrade. Give it a try.

1. If you have the product key, you can reinstall with a friends installation disk - must be same edition (e.g. Home Premium) as your key.
2. I don't know how you could have "lost" a partition. I am sure it is still there and if you have recovered your data, you can reformat it in Disk Management. No need to reformat the whole drive.

Win7 wouldn't just revert to Vista without a long complicated operation on your part with the windows.old folder. It may be that you installed Win7 to another partition and now it won't boot. Let us take a look.

Note that your notebook support 64-bit OS, but you cannot upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit. If you wish to upgrade to 64-bit (and you do), you will need to do a clean install.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

If you can find someone that has a Windows 7 install disk that you can use, it doesn't have to be the exact same version, though it does have to be the same bit-rate (32-bit or 64-bit) you can use the info above to create an installer of your version and use the other 2 tutorials to do a clean install.

Just be advised the "Optimize" tutorial will over-write everything on the entire Hard Disk Drive (HDD) so make backups first of anything you don't want to lose.

Looks like you ran the installer from Vista and installed to another partition which got deleted and is now Unallocated Space.

This time I would boot the Win7 installer and make sure you install to the C partition. You can format it first using Custom>Drive options, even repartition if you want, or just highlight C partition and click install.

Cant thank you all enough for sharing your expertise. Back on W7 today, i copied an iso file to a dvd and booted it up perfectly. Also formatted the corrupted part of my hard drive. Couldnt have done it without you. Thanks again
