When i play dvds on wmc i can see interlacing lines. But when i play them on my Toshiba blu-ray player they look almost like hd. Does wmc up convert dvds to 1080P? anything i can do to improve dvd playback on wmc7?

my desktop computer and blu-ray player are hook to my tv with hdmi.

Please update your system specs and put the actual model numbers in there. Simply saying gforce and msi doesn't help much.

Do you have any codec packs installed?

I'm no expert but at 450watts does your PSU look a bit lean for your setup?

I wasn't suggesting for one moment that there was anything wrong with your system. The reason I mentioned the PSU is that in the Spec for tootal2's new graphic card it said "Requires 300 watts of power" He has 450w. Perhaps another 25w would make all the difference, I don't know. It was just an (helpful I thought) observation on my part. Didn't really call for a rebuff.

It sounds like you just need to enable De-interlacing.
This can be done 2 ways. Via Software or Hardware (Your GPU)

De-Interlacing can be done via FFDshow. But I would recommend using Hardware de-interlacing if your card supports it.

I am unfamiliar with Nvidias settings, but in ATIs the setting look like the snip below.
Nvidia should have something similar. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable with their interface can help find it.

As far as Upscalling, WMC does not upconvert to 1080P as far as I am aware.

However, you can force it via FFDshow.
I would recommend Sharks Codec pack, as its handy for many things.

The adjustments for upscaling will be made in the x64 part of his pack, for WMC and the x32 part for WMP (If using the default version which is 32bit)

I plan replacing to power supply soon. the power supply i have is to loud.
Do they make a quiet power supply? I paid just 35.00 for the brand new case with the power supply in it.

If i get a 600 watt power supply will my power bill go way up?

If you get a good, name brand (such as a Corsair) 600W will be far more than you actually need.

A 450 or 550 would be plenty with some overhead.
And, the power bill may actually be cheaper if its a 80%+ effecient PSU.

To be quite honest, if your case was a $35 case, with a PSU included ....
Even a Corsair 400W would likely be more powerful, quieter, and use less energy from the wall to do so.

Many times, the PSUs they include with cases are more of a selling point, and simply are not worth actually having.

I just ordered a Corsair TX650W 650-Watt Power Supply. I hope it works better then old one. Its neat how they can put a big fan on top.

Here is a power supply similar to the ones I got for my two home-built systems:

Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V version 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply

The key features are the Active PFC (active power factor correction) and the 80 PLUS Certified (more than 80% efficient). It's likely you'll use a a third less power and it will run cooler. A power supply being rated for 650 Watts only means it's capable of supplying 650 Watts on demand, it has little to do with how much it's using at any given moment.

Bye.
