Installed a new graphics card + now no image on the screen

Hi

I've bought a ATi RADEON HD 2400 HD2400 Pro 256MB for my sisters computer after their X800 Pro practically blew up (A few resistors blew). (ATi RADEON HD 2400 HD2400 Pro 256MB low profile [YP477] on eBay (end time 05-Sep-10 22:23:03 BST))

I have installed the graphics card and turned on the computer.

I never herd a Beep when i first started up. The motherboard is ASUS A8V-VM SE. As its not my computer, I'm not sure if i ever did here it bleep when i started it up prior to the blown graphics card. I have asked my sisters and there not too sure either.

I'm just curious why it isn't displaying a image on the monitor. I have tried 2 monitors. Mine and theirs and both monitors say "Check inputs"

I have done the basic's like checking all plugs are plugged in and checked the graphics card is plugged in too.

Whats the reason for this? The CMOS has been reset too. I'm thinking it could be a nuked hard drive?

This sounds like something more than a blown video card... its entirely possible that the pci e slot may have been damaged as well... do they have an onboard vga adapter that they can use to test???

Another possibility is that the power supply was damaged when the card blew (or may have even caused the card to blow).

The fact that you don't hear any beeps is significant as you should get at least 1 beep to indicate successful completion of the POST (Power On Self Test). Do the fans come on? Can you hear the HDD spinning up and can you hear the heads seeking as if the machine is booting?

Does that particular video card have an additional power connector and did you hook it up to the power supply?

I have looked inside the PCIe slot, and there's no black marks. What do you mean a 'On-board' vga adaptor? A on-board graphics card?

The fans come on, Heatsink fan comes on and the hard drive you can hear seeking and you can feel it spinning round

This has no other power supply to it.

I have unplugged the computer and even hooked it up to mine and it never worked. I dont want to take my Nvidia Geforce 88800Gtx out of my system to try it in their's (But i doubt there 600w power supply would handle it lol) I very much doubt its a dodgy graphics card, its new.
