I just recently build a new PC with the help of a friend. He partitioned (I think this is the right terminology) my 500GB hard drive so Windows would be on the C:/ and everything else would be on D:/.

Problem is program files was on my C:/ drive (which was only allowed 50GB). As you can imagine, that 50GB filled up fast (drivers, etc etc etc) so I looked up how to change my file path to put my program files in the D drive. I changed my file path for all program files to D:/ instead of C:/, and now windows can't "find" anything (including regedit or system restore) so i'm unable to change my settings back.

The C:/ drive in "Computer" still physically shows Program Files, but even in that folder windows can't "find" anything.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense, i'm pretty new to all this. This is my first custom built computer, and help would be much appreciated since i'm kind of freaking out here. :/

It may be possible to change the file path back as was, then extend the partition for your C: drive using a partition manager, don't panic as im sure it is do-able, partitioning is not my area of expertise however the are some wizards here on 7f who will help.

Thank you for the welcome. I actually just fixed the problem on a hunch by physically copying program files into the D:/ drive in Computer.

Now my problem is that program files is back into C:/, which is almost full. Does anyone know how to actually make it so files are being installed into my D drive (which actually has 411 GB free)?

I appreciate any help. :)
