Mid-Tower Case, CPU Fans, Size Does Matter?

I might just get a Corsair power supply and leave the one I have with the same case its already in.

How does this sound?

Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler

CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

And possibly

I'm getting a monitor I just haven't figured out which one out of the 30 I've narrowed it down to.

I'm just making sure I'm not missing anything/it will all go together all right. I don't wanna get everything and see that I missed one little detail or something.

What say you!...guys?

Anyone have any last minute info or suggestions before I put my order through?

With the 600t case it has its own fan controller but when would a good display for temps and such?

Looks like you have done your research and designed a system that you will be happy with, which is all that really matters. I would however recommend a test run of the water system before placement in the case just in case you do experience some sort of leak. Let us know how it goes and post pictures.

For Temp monitoring and display I use Coretemp application: Core Temp

I was looking for a lcd temp display that you can put in the drive-bay, the most promising one I've found so far is: Newegg.com - AeroCool Touch-1000 Controller, Panel

The fan speed controller would be useless since the case has one but it seems like a nice display. Everyone I have found has a fan speed controller, even the card readers.

I'm probably the only one looking at this thread anymore but at least I can think out loud.

I still have to either sell one or two things or wait till my first paycheck before I can buy this stuff so i have a little time.

Dillema's:
Corsair H50 vs H70 (Is the H70 worth it? Would the H50 be better for the case?)
AeroCool Touch 1000 (I just want a temp display, since the fan controller is not needed for the case fans but it could controller a push pull set-ups with the cpu radiator fans)
Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card (Worth it? I mainly use the smaller version one I have for the sd card in camera)

Monitors:
I eventually want to have a dual display and I can not decide between the final three I have narrowed it down to on Newegg. I do not know whether I should get two of the same or two different ones. two Are LED back lit, don't know the advantages, or disadvantages to that.

If anyone has a better monitor in mind that is around that price range feel free to suggest it. I chose them based on looks, and the components mainly.

Lollies,

Not sure if you can swing it, but the Dell IPS flat panel monitors are fabulous and look wonderful. I have a 23" Acer currently and it's only list of things that I really want to replace. I have my eye on the Dell U2410....it's a 24" monitor with 1920x1200 resolution. It sometimes goes on sale right around the $500 mark. The IPS panels are much more vibrant and more accurate than TN flat panels.

I can swing it, it'll just be in two weeks after I get my pay check lol. I've had it bookmarked for a long time from the other thread I had/have when all I wanted was dual monitors. I really liked it but it seemed a bit on the pricey side since I'm upgrading a bunch of stuff in my comp. But if its that much better I'd rather wait. How does everything else look besides the monitor?

I've got an older Dell ultrasharp flat panel that is 18.1". I've had about 5 LCD flat panels since then and that is by far my favorite monitor to this day. It's a darn shame that many of us skimp out when it comes to our monitors, considering it's the one thing that we are always looking at.

Like I said, I'm saving my pennies and will upgrade myself before too long. i expect this to be one of my biggest bang for the buck upgrades.

Tis true, I think its cause so many people don't see/want to pay that much for a screen when they could get one cheaper and get a GTX 480 instead. I dono, it is a true statement that is often over looked.

This is what I have planned so far.

I have about 800$ no so I figured I'd get the parts I need to redo my build then go for the monitor in a week or so when I get paid again.

As far as parts go I'm looking at:

Newegg.com - Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Professional Series AX850 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

CORSAIR Professional Series AX850 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Fairly certain that will sustain my current work load and anything in the future. If they had a AX 1000Watt I'd probably go with that but they don't.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler

CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler

Still don't know about the H50 vs. the H70. From what I have read some get the results, other do not. The H50 would take up much less room and could be most effective if an additional fan was bought for a push/pull set-up.

Newegg.com - AeroCool Touch-1000 Controller, Panel

AeroCool Touch-1000 Controller, Panel

I really just want a display that shows the temp and and fan speed. This seems like the closest i can get, it can control the fan speed but the case already has the knob that does that. So maybe it could monitor the fan speed while the case controls it? I dono, or it could control the 2 cpu fans with the H50/H70.

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

I have some like this in my current build but its a mini one and I want to leave it with the case and add a new one to the new case. That is just what I found from searching.

Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 24X DVD Writer LightScribe Support

Also want to keep the cd drives with the case so I was doing to add this. Don't know what the other drive would be, just a cd-dvd drive.

Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 24X DVD Writer

This as the second one possibly? Don't knows if it necessarily matters, I've always just used what I've had around or available to me.

Future:

Dell UltraSharp

img.aspx

Seems like a good IPS Panel. Would like a dual set-up, don't know whether that would consist of two of these or two different ones. For now I'll start with one.

That is my plan of attack more or less for what I want. Suggestions? Comments?

I'm not entirely sure that I would go with 2 optical drives. Just going to be more wiring in your case for a feature you might not use much. If I were doing 2 optical drives, one would be a blu-ray. You shouldn't have any problems with your power supply at 850W. The corsair's are solid.. I'm not familiar with any of the panel's and such for displaying temps and fan speeds...as I don't ever get elaborate there. Everything else looks good to me.

I've always had two for whatever reason, I dono. Seems like most people do, not sure why. The two I have now are generic, i dono who made them but one is just a cd/dvd drive and the other like the one I posted. Do you mean go with just one optical drive in general or just not two like I listed.

As far as the lcd display goes, i don't know much either. It has mixed reviews but its the closest thing I could find besides a 'Media-something" which displays songs that are playing etc which I don't think is necessary.

Thanks for the speedy reply Parks :D

Since I'm working full-time at the moment I only have some much time to figure it all out now versus spending all day looking at newegg, which wasn't healthy anyways.

I think I might just place the order tomorrow night since they don't process over the weekend (to my knowledge).

I'm still not decided but I think it will be:

Maybe

Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

And later
UltraSharp U2410 61 cm (24") Widescreen Monitor

And later

Another screen, dono what or graphics card.

Only plans I have at the moment.

Just some suggestions on what I would do...

1 optical drive is plenty, don't really know why you would ever need two in today's day and age... Back in the day people had two when cd burners first came out.. One to read, one to burn. Upgrade to a blu-Ray instead of two DVD drives

Corsair makes excellent power supplies. 850 watts might be slightly overkill for your system. A 650 watt power supply will power 99% of all 1 gfx cards systems on the planet. More power won't hurt tho. Also I've heard modular psu's are slightly less reliable, but I think that they have changed and are much better now, if not just as good as a traditional psu.

that case looks nice. Any Antec, coolermaster, Lian-li, thermaltake or corsair case should get the job done. As far as the cooling I don't think an aftermarket cooler is always needed but again it can't hurt. Water cooling, as mentioned earlier, is only needed for serious enthusiasts and overclockers

good luck with your build

I've always just had two, my first family computer, my first own personal computer, my first build, etc... That makes sense, not sure if I would need a Blu-Ray Burner although I am sure it would be nice to have.

The current power supply I have is 1000watts, I never knew if I would add more cards to my configuration but to my dismay I realized I could not. 850 is lower so it seems ok, maybe I'm wrong. If I do add another card to it at some point I'd rather have a larger one versus a smaller one.

I'm sure there are some other cases out there but this is the only case that is like a small full tower. A real full tower would be much too big as someone else stated, this one would be a good size because your not cramming stuff into a specific amount of space, you have enough plus a little extra to work with.

All water cooling for me would be overkill I think, even though overkill is generally my nature. A liquid CPU fan seems half way and I would like to overclock to some degree as I learn more and more.

Thank you for the info, it was very helpful and cleared somethings up.

I just ordered everything, hopefully it will all work out and I won't have to exchange anything, such as the H70. Should be here in 3 days or so, I'll post pics when I get it up. Granite I won't have a screen, keyboard, or mouse for a week or two but at least I'll have my comp up and running.

I could just use my mind...but

I have ones I will use temporarily but I'm getting a new mouse, keyboard, and monitor in the near future. I dono what mouse or keyboard but they are likely to be wireless, the monitor will probably be the Dell Ultrasharp U2410.
