I am wondering if a HDD upgrade for my laptop be worth it? I currently have a

Acer Aspire 5920G

  • Core2Duo T9300
  • 4GB DDR2
  • GeForce 8600M GT
  • 320GB HDD (5400rpm)
will a upgrade to 7200rpm HDD benefit/be worth it? I need more storage so i am considering a 500GB 7200rpm. Or will I be better off with a 5400rpm 1?

I do know that if you upgrade to a SSD, you will definitely notice an improvement. I have one in my Toshiba laptop and the improvement is remarkable.

I did think of that, but my laptop as you can see is quite old if i get an SSD, other components may become the bottleneck? any ideas? from what i see from Speccy

Code:
Manufacturer Western Digital
Form Factor GB/2.5-inch
Business Unit/Brand Mobile/WD Scorpio®
RPM/Buffer Size or Attribute 5400 RPM with 8 MB cache (Mobile)
Interface/Connector SATA 3 Gb/s with 22-pin SATA connector (Mobile)
Interface IDE
Capacity 313GB
Real size 320,072,933,376 bytes

I wonder if a SSD will be worth it? I guess my laptop should support SSD via SATA 3GB/s? will Seagate 2.5" XT (Hybrid SSD) be a good buy? its almost double a normal SATA HDD tho

but on 2nd thought, maybe I wont really make full use of it. I am not a hardcore gamer, not editing large videos/photos? + my main requirement is more HDD space

Major problem in laptops, I would stick with the 5400 rpm but a larger one.

An SSD saved me buying a new laptop. Mine is about 5 years old but it flies now!

You have to ask yourself if the cost worth it to YOU, reading the above I don't think so but it's your call.
