Ok here's the scoop:

Looks like you have probably already installed the vc runtimes as suggested above. If not they should be located in with the install files. vcredist_x86.exe or something. Right click it and choose Run As Administrator.

With that done and the program installed as administrator (Yes you will get the registration errors but the program IS installed, just some of the sound filter plugins won't work yet).

Now, open a command prompt as administrator: Right click the "Command Prompt" executable( start->all programs->command prompt) and select Run as Administrator. Now CD to the filters folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Audio assuming you installed in the normal path.

Now for every file in the folder (should be 8 or 9 dll files) type the following:
regsvr32 <dll name> [(I.e." regsvr32 sffrgpnv.dll" and hit enter)

The first problem is probably a stupid bug in the vegas install program, it should know if it has to install the vc runtime libs before anything else. The second issue is probably a case of even more heightned security in windows 7 over vista and another example of "good" but "going to bite consumers in the butt" when they try to install older software on it :(

Hi man, first of all, thanks for your help and for all the others that tried like you.

I have YET ANOTHER ERROR...

Ill post it in a moment

EDIT: Here you go:

1432mm8.jpg

For Spanish speakers, its self explanatory. For those who are English: Ill translate it briefly: It says that it cannot find the component, but you can clearly see it on the folder.. What the f*ck is wrong with this? :S

I believe I got that error as well before I installed the vc runtime libs.

That error pretty much cinches that you do not have to proper vc libraries installed. The vegas installer should install them first, not last (they get skipped by the registration errors because the DLLs also won't run because the libs are missing :P)

I got both of those errors until I had ran the "vc_redisyx86.exe" installer file that is in the folder along with the other vegas install files. After that installed, vegas ran fine (no need to re-run the vegas installer), but then I had to hand register the dlls as described above.

It sounds like they have gotten the bugs fixed in 9.0 But 8 is "hand installable".

Dudes, I'm assuming this is the ONLY way to run Vegas on my Windows 7 box:

Why.. Why do I have to have compatibility issues WITH VEGAS? I need it so badly... If only was with another video editing program it would be fine... T_T

just trying to install Vegas 9 to see what happens and noticed that Vegas 9 requires 'c++ redistribuitable 2008' not the 2005 one... just a 'heads up'!
(already using Vegas 8 32bit on win64, no problems but its after upgrades not fresh installs)

Sorry you guys are having so much trouble but as others have said, it will work under W7.
It sounds to me like its more of a system problem rather than Vegas.
I know its not easy but i would re install the OS.

As Ive said i have both running and other than running in compatibility mode (and i did this from the start, windows didn't force it) Ive not done any of the above messing around.

Hope you get it sorted.

Dave.

Tonight I'll check if Vegas 8.1 Pro 64 bit works with Build 7100. This is important, but not a deal-breaker for me. I currently have it running on a W2K3-64 box.

I loaded Vegas 8.1 Pro (8.1 is 64-bit and has a few tweaks vs. 8.0c) and it seems to be running fine. I threw a few clips in the timeline and noodled around with them. Seems normal to me. What I have not done yet is capture video from the camera and then render it. I've had probs in the past with 8.1 not wanting to see any camera (under W2K3_64) but not with rendering. We'll see what happens.

Sony Vegas OK Here too

I'm running Win 7 build 7127 x64 and did a standard install of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack with no problems. I've tried out everything but DVD Architect and all is working fine. I didn't use compatibility mode or run the installers as Administrator.

Good Luck
